Sakurai himself is the voice of King Dedede.

Really? In all versions of the game?

There's really only one voice for Dedede, so yeah. Sakurai also voices Dedede in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Dedede was also the same voice as Kirby in Return to Dream Land (Makiko Ohmoto). Meta Knight too.

Anyway, did you know...

Smash Bros. is not the one-man project that everyone makes it out to be all the time. You can't possibly tell me that Sakurai ran around doing all the dirty work on his games while everyone else on the teams sits around doing nothing.

Besides, how many people even knew who Sakurai was before Brawl was announced?

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, if you choose Samus, hold out your shield while tapping A and rotating the control pad clockwise, your grapple will be transformed. In its transformed form, the grapple will be about two and a half times its normal length and can home in on nearby foes if you hold Z (I think; might have been a shoulder button), but will only grab people if you press Z (again, may have been a different button) when the tip touches them.

Wasn't this already found out back when Melee was new?

Off the top of my head, here's a few fun facts:

SSB64
In team matches, there are "secret" costumes that you can select only in teams. For example, Green Kirby, Light Blue Captain Falcon, Purple Samus, Green DK (I like to call him Mutant DK), etc. Every character has a red costume in normal Vs., so blue and green are the only secret colors.

In Sector Z, there is a glitch you can do with Fox and Ness. With both standing in a certain position (watch video linked below), have Ness use PK Thunder while Fox has his reflector out. As PK Thunder is coming back towards Ness, have Ness swing his own PK Thunder with his bat. If successful, the game will freeze. This may take a few tries.

Moltres may appear in the background of Saffron City, but it's very rare.

Ganondorf only appears as an ally in classic mode, and never as a real opponent, whether it would be Giant, Metal, Team, or just a regular fight. Roy never appears in Classic Mode whatsoever (unless you pick him :P). This may imply that both characters were some of the last playable characters added to the game.

Speaking of Roy, if you look closely into his sword, you can see the outline of the HAL logo.
Don't believe me? Here's a picture: http://i52.tinypic.com/96bxox.png

In the Special Movie, during the scenes focusing on Peach, you can see platforms that are not in the final version of Temple. Maybe this little clip was taken from an earlier version of the game, and they decided to use it and hope no one would notice.

I'm suprised no one else mentioned this yet, but data in the coding shows that Dr. Mario, Roy, Mewtwo, Dixie Kong, Toon Zelda, Toon Sheik, and"pra_mai" (many think it's really Plusle and Minun, myself included). Roy and Mewtwo had the most data completed, with Mewtwo even having an announcer clip IIRC.

There is a block that is unused in the stage builder, which is like a little bump. You can use it if you make a stage in the Stage Studio PC program, however.
The bump can be seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdiHUnVSFhI

We all know that Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi are all very hard to get and have a 1/493 rate of appearing, but did you know that Manaphy is very close to that number in terms of appearing?

Fox and Falco have an unused animation with their blasters, where after they shoot, they look around a bit. Wolf does not have this, as they probably removed it for Fox and Falco before Wolf got programmed into the game.

I don't know, but in any case I doubt that it's common knowledge. It's not even on the Cheat/Easter Egg/Glitch section here on Melee's GameFAQs page.

IIRC they also have unique victory themes still on the disc, left over when everyone (not just MetaKnight) were going to have their own fanfares.

Wolf is the only character who doesn't, implying he was a very late add.

Because pretty much everybody knows about this already, so it's nothing special worth mentioning.

Final Smashes were planned as early as the first Smash, but were cut for unknown reasons. This can be seen by voice files of Ness saying "PK Thunder" and a few others.

Uh how does a voice file of PK Thunder prove final smashes?

That's Ness's Up-B, isn't it?
