Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

I just don't see Snake and Sonic as recurring characters for the series, you know, with the contracts and licenses and stuff. I actually think that the next Smash Bros won't have them because of that. Not that I don't like them, it's just that they were possibly one-shot guests, and that Sakurai might want to use different 3rd-parties for the next game.

You know I never understood the Snake being in ruins Nintendo's image BS.

Literally one character doing this is laughable.

I thought it would improve Nintendo's image with hardcore gamers. There were MGS fans that wanted to get Brawl because it had Snake in it.

So it's only improving sales and the fact that it sold 10 million suggests that it probably only helped.

And he is popular. As I said earlier he was 12th place in a SSBB character poll that Sakurai posted on his twitter. Much higher than Sonic. So clearly it's a benefit.

And besides, who said Nintendo needs to be family friendly? They did publish Eternal Darkness and have lots of violent third party games on their systems. Hell ZombiU was one of the showcases for Wii U.

And who cares about most of the series being on another console? We are gamers as a whole, why should be take allegiance? All gamers and companies should support all gamers and companies.

The point is, if Sakurai does want to bring third parties back then both Snake and Sonic will. And honestly they should.

Nintendo is a multi-billion dollar company. They'll be willing to spend a decent amount of money on one of their largest IPs. Licensing a third-party character? A drop in the bucket compared to Brawl's 10 million+ copies sold, and considering that Snake and Sonic were definitely factors in those sales. They won't have the surprise factor they did years ago, but Snake and Sonic are definitely still hot commodities that Nintendo will pay for with a smile on their face.

I'm positive that's exactly why Konami allowed only Raiden instead of Snake to be playable in Playstation All Stars. They know where the money is. Meanwhile, Sony recently cut all ties with PASBR's development team after (presumably) disappointing sales.

This is why he shouldn't be brought back. I'm sick of the blatant favoritism for whatever Sakurai feels like putting in.

This is a business, not Sakurai's myspace. He should act with some professionalism, unless he wants to see everything he's helped build at Nintendo slowly fall apart in this generation.

If a company hinges its entirely livelihood on one developer, it's not the developer's fault for failure- it's the company's fault for not diversifying its assets.
