Yes, Takamaru was indeed in that game. Technically speaking he's only in the Wii version due to obvious copyright complications. Basically the character comes packaged along with Murasame Castle Mode, which is essentially a "remake" of sorts for Nazo no Murasame Jo. In the game he's a balanced character that mixes speed and power, with moderate range but fast attacks with a projectile.

MooglePeru posted... And not a single mention of Samurai Warriors 3 was made on this thread. Nor Captain Rainbow. Nor Nintendo Land. To answer your quesiton, TC, probably 85% of the fan rosters on this board include Takamaru as a new Retro rep. Most people on these boards know who he is and believe he is likely. As far as non-Japanese Nintendo fans go, however, you're probably looking at significantly less recognition . . . but you won't gather any useful information about non-Gfaqers on Gamefaqs. As for myself, I'm fairly certain that Nazo no Murasame Jo will see a revival, and that part of said revival will include Takamaru's inclusion in SSB4. Regardless of the obscurity of the original title, the most recent reference (the attraction in Nintendo Land) is very high-profile; and the image of the samurai is extremely popular in most modern cultures. --- Series that desperately need another game: LoZ:FS, BoF, Chrono and MM:L (You were so close, my friend!)

How do you NOT cite this when talking about Takamaru's potential? He's nothing like that. Takamaru is exactly the same as the CAW Sword moveset with two key differences-- he has a special ability based on the cloak of invisibility (basically a copy of another character's special) that makes him invincible for a short time, and his ultimate attack is the double fireball from the original game (which is absurdly strong). He's basically a speed character, but with the cloak of invisibility's bonus to attacks he also hits very hard. --- I will rule the world, and find that truly good cup of coffee.

I've been classic gaming on ROMS during my late elementary school years and managed to play Nazo no Muresame-jo. It was actually one of NIntendo's more harder games, but I enjoyed it. I mained him in Samurai Warriors 3 due to seeing what more he's capable of and what type of personality he has (which reminds me of a more serious Kenshin Himura). He'd have may weapons on his disposal: katana, invisibility cloak, windmill sword, shirukens, Inazuma Thunder bomb, and sandals that give him the ability to walk on water. He also is strong enough to reflect projectiles with his blade since that's required to survive the game. He would fit in well with Super Smash Bros. cast due to meshing with the more realistic characters and having flashy moves. Like Pit, him being in Smash might warrant a new 3D action game that could be on the Wii U with some Japanese flavor. For all the people saying "hurr durr too many swordsman", it's not about the weapon but how the characters fighting style relects their culture and personality to differentiate their self. I've been a fan off him for a while and would be happy IF he were to be confirmed as the first retro. For the last time LiL Mac fanboys, he is not retro any more due to having a Wii revival. Though, that still doesn't mean we can't get both. That would go well with the East vs. West rivalry they might have. FYI Dedekong, Kamiya OUTRIGHT stated on his Twitter that he'd be interested in making a Nazo no Murasame-jo reboot. -_-

I was going to make my own topic about this, but since this topic is here on the front page, may as well post here instead. I really don't get the Takamaru thing. I don't get why people want him so much, and I don't get why people think he's so likely. He's an obscure character from an obscure Japan-only game. Sure, he got an appearence in Nintendo Land, and I will admit that does elevate him from "obscure Japan character" to someone who's at least relatively known worldwide. But I really don't see 1 mini-game appearence as propelling him to Smash stardom to the point where so many seem to consider him a shoo-in (not nessicarily you TC, just talking about the general rosters that tend to pop up and always include him). A mini-game and an obscure retro game = shoo-in... I just don't see it. And as far as a playable character goes, I really don't see him being all that interesting. Most of the other retro characters are extremely unique. Ice Climbers are a hammer-wielding duo with ice powers. G&W is a 2D sprite with crazy animations. ROB is a robot with an interesting body type which lends itself to some unique attacks. Even Pit is an angel with a bow that fires light arrows and splits into daggers (though the dagger thing was pretty much made up for Smash I think). Takamaru is... a guy with a sword and some typical ninja tools. He's ninja Link. It just doesn't seem all that amazing to me. --- ~ Master of Electricity ~ Electro: 0518-6613-7620 - Pokemon White

Fire Emblem and Earthbound/Mother have and always will be bigger than Nazo no Murasame Castle in Japan, and the old school ferver for it was never as big in Japan as Kid Icarus was in America (or anywhere, really). I don't particularly have an opinion on whether I would want Takamaru or not, but I think the talk of him being likely or almost certain and such seems more like the Smash fanbase is sitting in an echo chamber and has collectively convinced itself that he's likely based on not a whole lot. --- God makes mistakes too...--duderdude3 Agree'd. Most of those mistakes post here.--SwordMaster100 |
