Does it really matter which characters are in it?

That doesn't describe the gameplay at all, though. Genres sort games by their gameplay.

Surely there's no problem with them putting me in Brawl, right?
It's ****ing satire, damnit. In NGE, Doritos are perishable goods

Maybe it's because "party" isn't a genre and never was.

Since SSB is considered a 3D fighter by those same people, ja. Nobody ever said those were actually accurate.

graphically speaking it is. you can argue that not being able to move in 6 directions makes something 2d but some see 3d as a graphical thing. especially when all 3d video games use fake 3d(a tv remote in real life is a 3d object,an image you is not)

To a certain extend it does. Now of course one character won't make a game good or bad, but a good roster would help the quality of the game just as a bad roster would hurt the game's quality. Remember, this is Smash, which have more emphasis on characters than most fighting franchises.

Hopefully, Smash 4 serves as a happy medium for quantity and quality. This game really does have the potential to be the best.

Toad, Bowser Jr., Paper Mario, Geno, King K. Rool, Dixie Kong, Ridley, Mewtwo, Deoxys, Pichu, Genesect, Roy, Palutena, Mach Rider, Ray, and Mega Man for SSB4!

Because Smash's physics are what attracts players to new/different Nintendo franchises.

I am the cheese. I am the best character on the show. I am better than both the salami and the bologna combined.
