Doesn't release a new smash more frequently? I mean wouldn't it sell highly regardless on how little they update it? I mean I don't blame nintendo for not being like the COD franchise but it doesn't seem smart from a financial standpoint.

This.

But in all honesty, TC, there's no reason for them to potentially tarnish a great series by saturating it as much as, say, Capcom does for Street Fighter.
Heck, think of it this way. If Nintendo, in any event, decides to milk the heck out of Smash (and make it sell massively, like, CoD massive), then whose to say they won't take that same practice with all of their major IPs? People are already frowning at them for the massive success (and production) of the NSMB series.

Well Capcom technically has always done that to street fighter (and heck most fighting game companies do it in general).

Though I won't like I would've thrown down an extra 50 bucks for a re-release of brawl with more balance and better online (which is what super street fighter iv was to street fighter iv).

I'm looking at "New Super Mario Bros."... I'm just not seeing this philosophy at work anymore.

Nintendo has certainly been known to rush products to store shelves in the past, hell Melee was rushed, that was why it had as many "competitive glitches" as it did. Who knows how competitive it would've been if it had been fully finished, probably about as much as Brawl.
