How did YOU become a fan of smash bros?

My cousin had a Gamecube and we'd play Melee whenever we went to his house. It was a blast and it was one of the main reasons I wanted to go visit him. I got my own Gamecube about 2 years before Brawl came out, but I still played Melee into the ground.

I read about Smash 64 on a gaming website (gamespy? IGN?), and the idea of beating the hell out of Pikachu with Mario and Samus was so tantalizing, I couldn't pass it up. It was the first game I ever went out and bought on the day of its release.

My cousin got the original on N64, and eventually I got a '64 and a copy of Smash 64. Great times were had, and I played it all the time with friends :D

12 year old SideShowBatt is at home doing homework when his best friend calls him one night telling me about a fighting game coming to the N64 featuring Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, and other favorite Nintendo charaters. Then, one saturday night I spend the night at his house and he shows me the Japanese commercial for Super Smash Brothers. 12 year SideShowBatt saved up his allowance to buy the game all the while inviting my friend to spend the night to play the game. We unlocked everything in that one weekend.

Smash 64 came out while I was in middle school. Simply scooped it up to go along with all the other fighting games I played at the time.

I like me some fighting games.

My cousin had it on the ol' 64, and boy did I love it.
