"Mario has 8 reps, so can Pokemon"

The problem with Pokemon right now is that it doesn't represent the franchise as a whole. Imagine if the Mario roster looked like this:

Mario
Luigi
Princess
Toad
Bowser
Hammer Brother
Wart
Mouser

This might have been a pretty solid line-up back in the 80's But it doesn't represent anything from there onwards -- like Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser Jr., or even minor players like Toadsworth, Toadette, or Petey Pirahana.

So to balance out Pokemon's representation we either have to take out some re-occuring Pokemon, or add a crap load of new characters to the roster.

I am definitely on this side a lot as well.
I think if we lose someone it should be jiggly puff, or regrettably pokemon trainer over lucario, as Lucario is the mascot for a whole new generation of pokemon.
