Two reasons why PAC-MAN will not be in Super Smash Bros. 4

I'm hoping that you weren't serious with this thread.

Reason #1 literally defeats itself in its own description. You cite that Pac-Man has done terribly in his past few games, which is true. But then you go on to say Mr. G&W's series has done so well.
What exactly gives G&W that justification and not Pac-Man? Why should Pac-Man be exempt from anything beyond the past 10 or so years? You shut down your own argument in reason #2 with how high his games grossed, but also:

Quoting the Pac-Man Atari 2600 web page on Wiki, "...the port is the best selling Atari 2600 game of all time, sold 7 million copies, and was the best-selling home video game of all time when it was released."

And that's just Atari alone. I'm willing to bet Pac-Man absolutely dominates Mr. G&W in software sales, not just arcade.

Reason #2 is a bit more valid, but still nowhere near enough to reach the point you are trying to make. The image of Pac-Man with arms and legs was adopted almost immediately after launch, being used from what I can find as early as a year after initial release. Anyone will just as easily nostalgia at a more current image as they would an 8-bit image.

I'm not even a supporter. If he's in, cool, if he's not, then I'm not going to miss him. But these reasons neither support or prove his guaranteed dismissal.

Just like Super Mario, Link, and Pikachu, they are not popular either, just recognizable

Troll topic.

Sarcasm my friend, sarcasm. I fully agree with you, I am a full PACMAN supporter, I was mocking his haters.

I know this is supposed to be sarcastic, but some of it is true... Pac-man is more recognizable than he is "popular."

To be fair, it's only his old design that is recognizable to anybody, his new design isn't anywhere near as iconic.

This matters because nobody is capable of recognizing Pac Man as anything other than a yellow pizza. Especially not in a game where characters' names are mentioned whenever a character is about to appear in a match.

He has a new design?

Not "New" per say, but a "Modern" design.

Show this to someone and there's not a massive chance they'll say "Pac-Man:"

Most anyone who isn't a child of a very young age would be able to recognize this as Pac-Man immediately.:

You make it sound like there are dramatic differences in the designs. You make it sound like the design with limbs is brand new, even though he was shown to have limbs in artwork for the original game. I guess nobody recognizes Skyward Sword Link as a Link either then. He's newer than the other Links and he has a slightly different art style than the regular Links.

Damn, that explains why Mario is in 8-bit form in the game :''(

Link has a Graphical Update, but will be always immediately recognizable by his Green Tunic, Sword and Shield.
