Target Smash sucks in Brawl

#1DavemanCosmanPosted 4/30/2013 10:23:52 AM
Did anyone prefer Brawl's target smash over Melee's? I miss the stages in Melee and the original Smash that took advantage of the individual character's strengths. Brawl not only took that away, but gave generic stages that needed to work for everyone.

I also miss board the platforms, but that just seems to be me.

Discuss.

The stages for everybody are the same in Brawl too.....which took out the whole theme thing...

Yeah Brawl's Target Test was a step down in every way.

And most people want Board the Platforms back.

I do prefer Melee's Target Smash than Brawl's version.

But yeah, I also would like to see Board the Platforms come back as well.

Melee's had that unique factor for each character which definitely in my books made it better. Also the melee target test music was so much better compared to brawls xD

I would say that every character should've continued to have their own Target Smash, but...that's a lot to work with. A LOT.

From a technical standpoint, I understand the 5 levels of Target.
From a fandom standpoint, I was pretty disappointed.

I agree that from the technical standpoint (and after 2 games before), it feels like "ugh, this again." But the target smashes did more than just serve as bonus games, they also taught you (the player) how to use that character's moveset and get used to their movement. I remember the original N64 smash forced you to use Jigg's pound to travel farther, Link's bombs to hit a target way to high to reach with the spin attack, Samus's bomb to hit a target down a botomless pit, etc.

The only aspect of it that bugged me was that getting the challenges requiring me to do them with all characters was poop due to them being the same 5 over and over.

yeah it was cool having them be custom to each character, but I never really missed it in and of itself.
