What smash bros. game is your favorite and why?

Melee wins in my book.

Sure, it didn't have as much in terms of content, but it had far more polished renditions of series staples like Target Test (all character specific), Event Mode (more varied and inspired objectives), Classic Mode (random fights), and Race to the Finish (it existed).
Melee also featured infinitely faster-paced, more in-depth gameplay, which lent itself well to being able to fans being able to make it virtually any kind of game they wanted. It was a blast as a party game, and it was also a blast as a competitive fighter. The game had something for everyone. Any way you wanted to play it, it WORKED. There was a shallow end and a deep end. Quality over quantity, I say.

Brawl because Project M and other softmods.

If that doesn't count, then Melee.

Melee. Brawl's roster was better but Melee had the best gameplay.

Brawl. Melee is extremely close though. Both are some of my favorite games of all time

Melee.

"SUPER! SMASH! BROTHERS! MELEE!!!"

"Race to the finish!"

Great physics.

Some nostalgia going for it.

Individual Target Tests.

More cartoon-ish models. (which I feel fits the series best)

Adventure Mode that exclusively uses enemies from Nintendo franchises. (With reasonable exceptions)

I have never played or owned SSB64.

But I have my copies of Melee and Brawl.

I liked Melee's character choices, as some of them were really awesome (looking at you Roy, Ganondorf and Mewtwo) even though some were clones.

However, Brawl's music, content, and Lucario and Wolf made me so happy the day both were confirmed.

So I voted Brawl.

Melee any day of the week.

I absolutely adore the game speed and how the game plays overall. While I do enjoy 64 it simply isn't competing with Melee.

I don't find Brawl even remotely fun to play so the vote is a pretty easy one to cast for me.

Melee,
1. I far prefer it's fast paced gameplay to brawl, and the greater balance to SSB64
2. The stages are infinitely better than Brawl's, and there are more than in SSB64
