I know it's terrible, but here's a mockup of the boxart I made using images from the trailer (based on the leaked Wii U box art).

It looks very bland; it doesn't even have the main characters or any actual discernible pikmin on the cover. It just doesn't have that "pop" to it, and I like how Nintendo did the box art and manual art for both games with the clay-mation in real life environs.

pikmin on the branch, and does any pikmin game actually have main characters on the cover?

When I said "discernible" I more or less meant being in clear view, not two red leaf pikmin out of focus in the background. Also, the captains do appear on the box art, at least in the NTSC versions of the games.

Simply go to the Pikmin Wikia, or you could look at the images section for Pikmin 1 and 2 on this site. I mean, you're right here posting anyway, why not just check and confirm it for yourself rather than asking?
