Eh. I preferred Pikmin 2's style, but I can still see the charm that the first one had. I proceed forward in waiting for this game.

This is how Miyamoto has always worked. It's nothing new.

The only real difference is knowing how involved he is with a game. Clearly he was more involved with the first Pikmin than he was the second, and it would make sense if he were to get involved again that he'd try and retain the qualities from the game he worked on.

I too thought Pikmin 2 was more fun than Pikmin 1, but let's see it from another perspective, this could be a way for them to refine the mechanics of the first game, make them more enjoyable. Because hey, Pikmin 1 and 2 have very different play styles, one focusing more on strategy with a time limit, the other one more about exploration and action.

As for other Miyamoto games, the more involved he is the bigger the changes are. The only time he got really involved in the NSMB series was NSMBW, and for that he mainly got involved for the four player mode, and for Skyward Sword, his main contribution was getting motion plus to work. And if we go back we see it for plenty other games too, making Metroid Prime an FPS with the visor system, time travel in OoT, the crayon art style in Yoshi's Island, or the gravity based mechanics of the Super Mario Galaxy series. These were very significant contributions to worn out franchises. And even though he's not directly credited for some things, his methods have also lead developers to ideas like the Sticker system in Paper Mario Sticker Star or the Tiki Tak Tribe in Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I can imagine fans being upset, the guy likes to bring change to games, change that not all fans want or ask for... And then there's Miyamoto's knack for retconning/rebooting franchises, starting fresh with each new game in a series. That's not something fans typically enjoy. But I think, in order to get fun new games, those sorts of ideas are a good thing. So, that's what I'm hoping with Pikmin 3, that it'll be a refinement of the first game, fix the problems that game had, make it more enjoyable, but still keep the strategy and time management that made the game what it is.

I've disagreed with a lot of Miyamoto's decisions lately, but this one's just fine with me.

I'm perfectly fine with the main story having a time limit of 30 days or whatever, but I do hope that they allow you to continue after achieving completion so that you can explore, farm Pikmin, fight superbosses, etc at your leisure. Basically, imagine Pikmin 2 with a 30-day timeframe to collect the 10,000 Pokos, after which the time limit would disappear and the Wistful Wild would unlock.

30 days seems a bit much for the 10k Pokos. 20 would be a more reasonable amount.

He did cause Sticker Star to be pretty bad....and I do prefer Pikmin 2 over 1 we do not know what he meant with his comments entirely yet, so I will wait and see before I form an opinion on it. If there are more treasures I have to find above ground I will be happy, but I do not want as many caves.

I prefer pikmin 2 over pikmin 1, but I also prefer pikmin over no pikmin, so there's that. Also, Miyamoto's one of my idols, and I'm fine with whatever he thinks best (although I do hope that the second half of the game is more "free" like Pikmin 2. I mean, I don't ever play games for the challenge; I play them more for exploration and story/lore. (DeS and DaS are two of my favorite games, even though I'm not particularly good at them. And they're really not that hard once you used to the fantastic combat.)
