what kind of game over screen would you like?

In Pikmin 2 I really didn't like the game over screen, I mean, when you get the messages of "captain is down" and "pikmin extinction", I would like it more like Pikmin 1's, because in Pikmin 2 you lost but it really didn't feel like I had lost, I just felt like "darn, gotta try again", in Pikmin 1 however, I felt bad for Olimar, I felt like I had done something terrible, the music, him walking with his head down towards the onion sinking in sadness, the fact that you lost the pikmin that were with you and the clear feeling of "you made a terrible decision", I liked that, THAT'S the feeling a game over screen should give, I also think I liked Pikmin 1's better because of the journal, in Pikmin 2 you lose and you just receive more mail, in Pikmin 1 you can read how sad and full of regret Olimar is and how he blames himself for being careless and a bad guide and captain. So.... which of these two would you like in Pikmin 3? or HOW do you think the game over screen is going to work? (probably I'll never see it because I take care of my Pikmin and with 4 captains it'll be near impossible for all of them to be downed). ALSO, now that miyamoto stated there will be a time limit. What do you suppose will happen if it reaches 0 and you haven't completed your mission? a bad ending like Pikmin 1?

TL;DR: How do you think the game over will work, and what do you think will happen when the time limit reaches...well... it's limit?

I want a game over screen, period. If there is none, it will be lame. There was ZERO good reason 2 didn't have a screen.

People love to whine about "I love to explore". Well then get ANOTHER game. You honestly can't explore the same few areas in Pikmin over and over, then claim its "so exciting". Yes the areas in both Pikmin games are great, but that doesn't mean there should be zero challenge.

Want a good relaxing game where you can just play around? Go play Minecraft. Go play 1000 other games.

Pikmin = right formula

Pikmin 2 = dumbed down, with a few decent concepts (co-op challenge mode, the caves, etc).

Pikmin 3 = ? . Just hope it's not dumbed down more to appeal to the many newer gamers that need easy crap.

That's exactly my opinion pretty much summed up, I agree with you, they shouldn't dumb down a game which is based off of challenge and strategy or just cause "little kids can't play it" (i'm looking at you Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed 3DS ¬¬)

Unfortunately.. Nintendo just loves to dumb down games. It's been happening since GameCube (at least). I cant judge N64 much, I didn't own a ton of the games. But NES and SNES were full of hard games.

Appeal to everyone: fine. But throw in options so gamers don't have to use self-imposed challenges to have fun.

Well since Pikmin 3 is being made like Pikmin 1 due to the interview, the creator did say that is the direction it is going. So what would be nice is to have like a combo of both games in one. Since Pikmin 1 was about the time limit and strategy, and Pikmin 2 was about exploring at your own pace, Pikmin 3 should be in the middle, should be about exploring and strategy. A way you could do that is have certain areas have time limits, like if a boss battle or a level would impose a time limit, like say a enemy in a cut screen hit on the players, you would have like 15 min or whatever to reach the end or something.

So that way you can explore the levels at your own pace, but some scenarios would have a time limit.
