andis1992Posted 1/7/2013 12:23:10 AM | For pikmin 3, which method of control for throwing pikmin would you prefer?
Classic control, where you used the joystick to aim where you throw your pikmin. (this was the style used in the gamecube versions of pikmin 1 and 2.)
Wii remote cursor, where you used the wii remote to point and aim where you threw your pikmin (featured in the "new play control" versions of pikmin 1 and 2 that were released on the wii)
Or touch pad controls, where you would tap on the Wii U game pad where you want to throw the pikmin. (as used in the pikmin game in NintendoLand)
Personally, I prefer the Wii remote method, as the gamepad controls pretty much force you to look at the gamepad rather than the TV. |

I hate the Wiimote Controls and I wasn't a fan of tapping the game pad to throw them in Nintendo Land. --- "Wherever I may live, I remain the same person. Nothing will change." - Milla Maxwell. |

Ghost-inZeShellPosted 1/9/2013 11:09:40 AM | I prefer the GamePad, actually. (like NintendoLand)
1. GamePad 2. GameCube controller 3. Wii Remote
Personally, I felt that the Remote was never as responsive as it should have been.
All controllers have some degree of latency, even if it is only a fraction of a second. 'Good' controllers (or "Tight" controllers) has so little latency that it is not even noticeable. The Wii Remote had latency that I personally noticed. The cursor on the screen always dragged behind where I was pointing the Remote.
The GamePad and GameCube controllers were tight and always did what I wanted, when I wanted it to happen. Also, tapping where you want to throw your Pikmin felt so natural. |
RetroYoshi4191Posted 1/9/2013 11:16:17 AM | Why not offer all three?
For me, Wii Remote controls had only one problem: I had to aim and mash the A button at the same time to ambush my foes, which meant thumbing the button, which meant it wasn't much of an ambush because my thumbs are dumb. --- "Invincible. I can't be vinced." |

They should ofer all three, and iirc, the official site says that the game does. I agree with you on the thumbs issue though. although i prefer the wii remote option, the problem i have with it is that when i mashed the a button, my thumb began to flick the remote downwards, and my aim would go off center. a lock-on feature would be nice. |
SSBMaster11Posted 1/14/2013 4:14:37 PM | Gamecube.
I feel like having where you aim controlled by the control stick, while it didn't give you quite as much range as in the Wii versions, it did give you much more accuracy. Even so, you can run while throwing, and get a pretty sizable range anyway. --- Challenge Mode scores: 230, 300, 249, 100, 299(perfect!) NyyarkPosted 1/17/2013 10:27:19 AM | Wii remote for me. I always had trouble aiming with the gamecube, no such issue with the wii remote. Disclosure though, I'm a big mouse/WASD person over dual analogue (pretty much hate using DA and how big it makes hit boxes to work reasonably). I even preferred the touch screen in Nintendo land over the GC controls. |
