Idea to Fix Purples

I like the special food requirements idea I think that would be superior to the flowers.

I actually wouldn't mind all or most of their offensive capability given to the rock pikmin and just have them be really good at carrying and damaging walls. It'd add another layer of strategy to the game. Have really offensively strong rock pikmin with no utility, and good utility purple pikmin with no offense.

Well purple should still be stronger because... well they are. Basically, I think purples should retain their ability to be strong (so x2 attack power, and x10 carrying power) but the rock pikmin should take all of the properties of heaviness (aka stun damage, break armor, damage upon impact), albeit not as ridiculous as pikmin 2's...

Hey can I use the whole ten food input on purple pikmin output idea for my walkthrough?

If I didn't want the idea out there I wouldn't have posted it, would I? Absolutely you can use it, and heck, you don't even have to cite me (because really, the idea has been used in RTS games for quite a while... I can't think of many games where there were multiple unit types and they all cost the exact same amount.)

The only thing I'm not quite sure about is what it should look like visually. Maybe the Purple onion's flower grows extra petals or changes color or something based on how close it is to having enough food to sprout another Pikmin?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the rock Pikmin aren't much good at attacking besides when they're thrown by the captain, are they? It seems like whenever they're thrown at enemies they bounce right off... I don't think I've seen them attack by whipping their leaves/buds/flowers around like the other Pikmin. So really, the rocks already don't have much combat utility (besides shattering armor)... seems kind of interesting... you'd always want them with a captain, you'd never leave them on their own to break a wall down or anything...

It seems like the purples were really just a "Let's throw every new Pikmin idea we can think of into a single Pikmin type!" This caused them to be majorly OP.

I think I have a rather simple solution:
1 - Give them their own onion.
2 - Have the onion only output 1 Pikmin per 10 food. The logic seems pretty simple... the Pikmin weigh more and are stronger because they have 10 times as much go into making them.
3 - Nerf their stunning ability. It should scale inversely with the health capacity of the enemy. The weakest of enemies will be stunned for a few seconds while the strongest will be stunned for milliseconds... it'll have virtually no impact on them.

IMO all Pikmin colors should have their own onion. And I say keep OP purple lol I'm fine with having a Pikmin type that makes the whole game easier xD

So you're ok with having a pikmin type that completely trivializes combat and makes it near nonexistent? and also makes another color completely 100% useless?
