Its not so much an upgrade to pikmin system as it is a down grade as it removes the strategy element as you haven't actually added a type you've combined two of them. Effectively removing two pikmin types.
Meaning the only pikmin used would be: Red (if purples get nerfed and fire is permanent) Green Purple (Combat or massive stuff) White Rock Pink
as opposed to: Red Blue Yellow Green (if at all announced) Purple White Pink Rock --- Black FC: 2666-8397-4718 Author of the Starfox Story on the Starfox Assault board. Check it out! Don't Fear the Reaper |
Ghost-inZeShellPosted 1/26/2013 1:14:29 PM | Shadowreaper7 is right. If you have one that just copies the powers of the others but is better, than you will be effectively be replacing them. And even if you manage to try to "even it out", then what would be the point of adding a new type to do the same thing, that can be done by another, just as well?
I can understand the Rock Pikmin and the possible Flying Pikmin, because they are filling a need that cannot be handled by the others. Even if the need is being artificially created in the first place. |
ArtOWarfarePosted 1/26/2013 1:42:42 PM | Orange pikmin (the combination of red and yellow) are the only ones that can survive in a lightning volcano:

In all seriousness, I think having a Candypop Bud that's capable of combining multiple Pikmin would be very cool... I've wanted a new Kirby with K:CS's power mixing for a long time... I'll settle for that ability reappearing in Pikmin 3 instead. |

They scare away predators in dark underground sections, and do not die if left overnight. |

As far as concepts for Greens go, I'd love to see one that either acts as a vine, which can make narrow bridges for other Pikmin to traverse; or one with thorns, which could be used defensively, any bulborb who licks up a batch of Pikmin including a green spits out all/most of them due to the thorns. |

That sounds OP to me... such a Pikmin would be immune to any enemy who eats Pikmin... then again, I guess that's not much different from any other Pikmin in the series... there's pretty much always one Pikmin immune to each enemy... (not to explosive or stomping or shooting enemies, but those are the minority of enemies in the series.) |

What if the thorns add to their attack power against unarmored foes, stronger than Reds, and they can traverse through brier patches and thickets unscathed, while other Pikmin can't? Making their travel specialty comparable to Blues and water. I thought about poisoning the tips of the thorns, but the Whites have that covered. |
