"Plays like Pikmin 1": Different Opinion.

I would like to offer my opinion on what the whole "plays like the original Pikmin" may actually mean.

I think, basically, there WILL be a time limit, though not a hard coded time limit like Pikmin 1. (You have 30 days and it's game over.)

Think of it like "you have xx time to do this" and if you don't complete the task in that amount of time, then something bad happens. Maybe the whole story is collecting food to end a famine on Hocotate.

The famine was mentioned in the fake walk through. So, the "time limit" could be something like "collect this much food in xx amount of time", etc. If you don't collect that amount of food, then Hocotate's population goes down, or something else that's bad.

Challenge mode in Pikmin 2 reflects what you collect in the main game. So taking that into account, I think the story revolves around food.

I think we need some gameplay other then challenge mode to be shown.

Anyway, my opinion of "More like Pikmin 1" is forcing more strategy and less "throw purples to win!"

For example, the crab creature. It follows the cursor and blocks incoming pikmin with it before swiping and eating three on the ground. Not to mention that at a distance, it blows pikmin and captain entrapping bubbles.

This requires forced sacrifices by letting it grab a few pikmin, leaving it open for the others to attack it's soft face.

Imagine if there was a bulborb or bulbear around? Or worse, more then one crab on the field at a time? i get the shivers just thinking about it.

As a perfectionist, I would hate this. I have liked that in the two Pikmin games so far, it's possible to complete the games without losing any Pikmin. As long as we're just talking the crab grabs them for a few minutes then drops them, that's okay, but I'm not going to like it if I'm forced to sacrifice the few for the many.

I agree, I would think it won't be a total 30 day limit.

And I agree a single time limit doesn't have to be a hard cap. A soft cap would be better, a time limit where things get really hectic at, rather than having a game over.

I actually prefer this. Or at the very least, make it nearly impossible to get a perfect game. I think games are better when they force you to make hard choices. This or that. That you can't have it all.
