ROUND PIKMIN
Cyan Pikmin

No arms or legs. They move by rolling.

Objects (parts/treasure) move faster when carried by these Pikmin.

Umm what? How do they carry anything w/o arms or feet?

The only polite way to answer that question, is with a question.

Have you ever slipped on a bunch of marble? (that someone careless left on the ground)

Or moved a dishwasher with only yourself and your friend (who doesn't even lift) by cleverly putting down some marbles, and then rolling the dishwasher over them?
It just frickin' glides.

At-any-rate, the idea is that if they can roll by themselves,
(keep in mind that we are talking about a made-up fantasy in the land of Nintendo),
then they can roll underneath the 'Precious' . (like a dishwasher gliding over a bunch of marbles)

Brown Pikmin (Bark Pikmin): Bulky Pikmin with bark for skin, used as tanks to create a defensive front line. They are inedible and just get knocked back by tongues, forcing them to regroup. Incredibly weak to fire. Long stemmed leaves sprout from their heads, the stems being long enough for the leaves to sag to the Pikmins' torsos, allowing them to hold and use the leaves as shields. Capable of attacking with shields, albeit it with very limited damage. Nectar leveling could lead to flowers that slightly increase offensive strength of shields.

^This is a pretty unique idea. So, in other-words, Tough Pikmin?

I'm not sure about the leaf-shields, but the rest is pretty solid. :)

BTW, does anyone know if current Pikmin have HP?
Because it always seemed to me that they were alive or dead.

Shadow Candypop bud -
Exposure of a Golden Candypop bud to extreme electro-magnetic radiation changed its cellular structure making the Candypop a dark black flower with orange tips on the petals. Throwing a pikmin into the flower will make it spawn black pikmin sprouts.

Black Pikmin -
Attack: 1
Speed: 1
Carry: 1

Abilities:
Black pikmin have unnaturally dark flowers with a black petals and a red centre. This allows these pikmin to be completely unseen by creatures in dark areas. In direct light however, they draw the attention of monsters which are awake and act as prime targets. They can however disappear in shadows.

Black pikmin also seem to have an uncanny ability and being able to redirect objects that are small yet have a large iron and other metallic mineral content.
Falling boulders are bounced by some sort of force field, projectile weapon fire is also completely deflected in random directions. The Black Pikmin also are able to use bomb rocks, being able to control said force field to fling the bomb rocks as well as carry them.

FLUFFY PIKMIN
(Nyanza Pikmin)

They are adorable!

They are covered in thick hard hair (quills) like a Porcupine.
The quills can protect if from the bites and swats of 'soft' enemies.
If attacked from a 'soft' enemy, it will survive the attack and damage enemy, but lose quills.
Quills regrow over time, but leave the Pikmin 'naked' and vulnerable when they are gone.

Even with quills, Fluffy Pikmin are vulnerable to ALL natural hazards.

'Soft' enemies, as oppose to the 'Hard' enemies that only the Rock Pikmin are effective against.

Waterbear Pikmin
Cyan Pikmin

Small, 8-limbed, elemental 'survival' Pikmin.
Passive Pikmin (cannot attack), however, immune to all elements: fire, water, electricity, poison, and even explosions.
Are useful in retrieval of treasure, breaking down walls, and building bridges, safely.
Most likely to not die.

Cannot attack, cannot carry bomb-rocks, cannot be thrown high, cannot save other Pikmin from drowning.
Can be eaten.

ROCK PIKMIN
Black Pikmin

Obsidian in appearance.
These super-hard Pikmin can break hard objects, such as glass wall, crystals blocking a path, or the hard shell or exoskeleton of certain enemies.

Ground Pikmin
(Maroon Pikmin)

Ground Pikmin are able to replant themselves back into the ground, on command.
ONLY while in the ground, they are protected from water, fire, electricity, explosions, and being eaten.

They can ONLY replant themselves into "ground".
They CANNOT replant themselves into floors that are rock, metal, or tiled.

If they are standing on (plantable) ground, then they cannot be crushed, but will instead, replant themselves automatically, when they are about to be crushed.

All Pikmin types mature faster when planted.
