Could "3 protagonists" have resulted in a better San Andreas?

Playing as CJ in Los Santos just feels damn right, but San Fierro and Las Ventaurus, whilst still being good, just didn't seem to fit CJ as well.

Imagine if those two cities had characters who fitted the "vibes" of them better.

CJ "works" well in Los Santos because he represents the west-coast gang culture. But San Fierro culture? We could have experienced that through the eyes of The Truth, one of Wuzi's men, or something.

Heck, we could have played as Toreno.

The game's story wouldn't need to change that much as CJ and the other 2 characters seem to cross over at points anyway.

Just a thought.

Yes, from a narrative sense, what you say could have worked a lot better. Maybe CJ to be the gangster, a Triad to be the entrepreneur, and a third character for the more ridiculous missions with The Truth and Toreno. You're right, not that much would have had to be different. Although it would feel a bit divided at times, almost like three individual games, rather than like GTA V where the missions are being designed to make best use of multiple protags.

Plus the concept of building up CJ's skills over the course of the game wouldn't play as well over three characters. And the obesity/muscle thing.

That was kind of the point though. A poor gang-banger getting out of the hood and going all around the state, albeit involuntarily. But he ends up with a stake in a casino, owns a bunch of property, and all that kind of rags to riches stuff. Sure, from a story-telling perspective it probably could have been done better, but the point was for CJ to not remain a hood rat for the whole game.

I hear ya. If the plot got changed around a bit, CJ could probably have "risen" up through Los Santos' Vinewood culture and the "rap game" (Mad Dog) though

I think Tenpenny booting CJ out into the country would have worked too, but where to go from there..

I guess it's just fun figuring out how it'd work if there were 3 protags to divide the story into :P
