I had an epiphany last night. GTA5 has a NASTY bug concerning char stats/skills

This happened to me once as well. The previous night I had used quicksave after getting the briefcase that's in the sunken barge in Banning. Next day I loaded it up, and decided to see if it had respawned. Jumped in to look, and suddenly realised my health was dropping. Surfaced, and tried again. Sure enough, my breath meter sank like a stone and I could only spend a few seconds underwater.
Checked my stats, and lung capacity said it was at 100%. I tried driving, and my car felt way more twitchy than usual. I decided to try loading the last autosave instead. Then I tried jumping into water again, and this time it was back to normal.
I'd decided that quicksaves were dodgy, so I've stopped using them. The bug hasn't occured again as far as I can tell.
Lung capacity is an obvious and prove-able one, but I doubt it affects anything else. Stamina and Shooting would both be just as easy to prove if they were affected. And driving skill, that only affects air control on cars, anything else you're detecting is placebo.
That's not how testing against placebo works.
And it's perfectly plausible to believe it could easily affect other stats.
Clearly your science skills have been reset; switch characters.
I started a new game to test some things out, Michael still has very little lung capacity and with some underwater spelunking Franklin is nearly maxed. Sure enough I got the bug and Franklin can't spend much time underwater. The funny thing is that Michael, with only one bar of lung capacity can spend ages underwater. It's like thier lung skills got mixed up between the two.
Maybe that's why the only skill I could tell a difference in are the special abilities. I didn't feel any stronger with guns as I progessed through the game and the cars all handle like they weigh 100 pounds.
NCAA 14...I am kind of disappointment.
I just got Michael some more lung capacity and now Franklin can stay underwater longer. The skills are mixed up. It are crazy.
I believe it happens when you replaying mission as well. I'm in the game now,replaying every mission to obtain 70 gold medals for the trophy;during "Franklin and Lamar" i check my stats meter and notice that my (Franklin) Special meter is reduced to bit above half, while the rest of the stats seems to be in the right amount.
Thought it only during mission replay,but to my surprise, it carried over even after I finish the mission!
For your information, Franklin is the character I played and develop the most, he has all of his stats maxed out except for Strength and Stealth. The reduce in his special meter really caught my eye, as I always keep track on Franklin's development.
Anyone have similar experience and able to confirm that replaying mission affect stats?
What about stats being locked?
My trevors special stat has not moved from the 3 bars and 1/4th a bar he started with!!!
Every stats on every one is maxed except his. Really irritating!
Lung capacity often gets me. Thanks for the workaround. It does work.
This wouldn't happen if there wasn't 3 protagonists.
Also if you haven't patched it'll happen with the money briefcases, they won't appear then you 2xswitch and appears.
Every time I load up the game gonna have to do some switching to be absolutely sure now.
