Why do GTA characters always refuse drugs, food, etc.

Anytime in GTA theres always a point where an NPC asks you if you want some crack, dope, pills, etc. And your character always says no. It's the same with food.

Is there some kind of law that says you cant show him doing drugs?

It's like, your guy is a serial killing mass murdered but he doesn't smoke weed or something. Anybody ever notice this?

Theres a scene in SR's 2 where your guy smokes a bulby

The player characters in GTA tend to keep away from the drugs to keep a clear head. Rejecting food because perhaps they are simply not hungry?

But I wonder if Trevor can do drugs in V, and if so it will have different effects depending on what hes taken.

I'm pretty sure there's no law or anything about your character doing drugs.

In Red Dead Redemption, after completing a mission, John would be standing against a post, or sitting on a bench, smoking. Then throws the cigarette away when the player regains full control.

Games (such as San Andreas for example) have shown characters using drugs. I think your character refuses because he's more level headed than most of the characters you deal with.

As for food, CJ and Niko have both eaten food in their games.

I know Niko always refused because of how trigger-happy and cautious he was, he didn't want to be operating on a sub-par level when he felt s*** might be going down soon. (Obviously, on his outings with friends that all went out the window.) CJ I'd assume was similar in the cautiousness.

OBJECTION!

Not sure about food, but it's safe to assume they decline things like alcohol or marijuana so that it doesn't impair their ability to complete the mission.

Ryder was insane to constantly offer Sherm / PCP to CJ before a mission.

In the PS2 games you could grab those pills around the map that made everything go into slow motion. Does that count?
