I sincerely hope that GTA5 will be the first GTA with good gunfire sounds

R* nailed the weapon sounds perfectly in RDR, but in every GTA game they have just sounded horrendous. The assault rifles sound like rapid-fire staplers. On the same note, the sound of melee weapons was similarly unconvincing, the knife/sword and bat being the worst offenders.

That said, I'm greatly anticipating this game, especially after the quality of the soundtrack and other effects in RDR.

the car engine sound is also horrible in my opinion(well, at least if you compared them to real life car engine sound). Especially for sports car..

I've always thought that the Turismo's engine / exhaust sounds were quite good in IV, along with the majority of other cars. Especially in comparison to GTA's of the past.

Its no Forza by any means, but I've always thought the cars, sounds, driving, physics, etc. were right where they needed to be in IV. I personally wouldn't want anything changed.

I absolutely hated the Desert Eagle's firing sound in IV. Made me stop using it. The M4 wasn't too bad though, but the other automatics were weak sounding.

Yea I agree some of the sounds were defiantly a weak point of the prior GTA game. Gun sounds especially.

Gunfire sounds have been a weak point in all GTA's. Add kane & Lynch gunfire sounds to GTA = major win!

I hope people don't flame me for saying this, but DICE do a great job with their weapon sound effects. I think DICE have been known to assist other dev teams in the past, perhaps they could chip in here too.

As much as I love GTA, it does have some goofy gun noises. Their not awful, I've heard much worse but some of them just sound off. The M4 and the SMGs sound fine but the AK-47 for example has a very distinct sound. One of those guns that even if you've never heard one, you could pick it out of a group of other assault rifle sounds.
