I sincerely hope that GTA5 will be the first GTA with good gunfire sounds

4's were at least a step up from San Andreas. Staple guns sound more intimidating than the guns in SA. III's gun sounds were pretty good and Vice City's weren't too bad.


Most games have problems with gun sounds. They need to add more "oomph" to them. Also some echo. Even in the middle of a city full of skyscrapers you will get an echo.

Hopefully, since they're being influenced by the movie Heat, they'll make the game's guns sound like the guns in the movie.

In multiplayer I realized how realistic it sounds when bullets hit things especially dumpsters and cars. In single player you can't really hear it over the gun though.

Vice City was decent. SA downgraded them a ton. GTA IV was better than VC but still not that great. I hope suppressors sound good and don't make a pew pew sound

I'm not concerned in the least. Red Dead Redemption had very nice sounds and animations for the guns, so I'm pretty confident in Rockstar's capability to bring out the best in the sound department.
