Did people hate TLaD that much? (SPOILERS)

#1MazryonhPosted 3/29/2014 3:45:07 PM
I was wondering if TLaD was the least-selling of the DLC campaigns in GTA4 and/or the most-hated. If not, then it makes me wonder why they had to kill off Johnny Klebitz so quickly in GTA5, and then make the player take out his best friends in this gang. Did the fanbase hate Johnny that much that they thought the GTA universe would be better off without him and his gang and made that desire known to R*?

I thought Johnny had decided to cut Ashley out of his life at the end of TLaD. The smart thing to do is not to follow someone you once had feelings for into destructive addiction--you cut them off and out. Now when I hear that Bon Jovi song "Wanted Dead or Alive" (on the TLaD soundtrack) I remember how Johnny "rode a steel horse" and was wanted "dead or alive"--actually, just dead.

TLAD did very well, not surprising when you consider it came out when Sons of Anarchy was getting big. Johnny was a good character but he wasn't #1 obviously. My opinion, it was a way to put Trevor over and it did. Plus, Johnny was a mess when he died. At that point he was better off dead if you ask me.

I enjoyed the TLAD, but Trevor just owns all those 1% bikers , you don't mess with deranged meth-head cause that's just crazy. He slaughtered like most of Los Santos chapter in 2 missions. Johnny was a cool dude but he had it coming to him, you live by the sword and die by the sword.

Why Is everybody be hating on TLAD, but me? I loved It and TBOGT too. Well that's what Grand Theft Auto 4 Complete Edition Is for, but I didn't like that TLAD and TBOGT are both on one disc.

Hmm, didn't know about the Sons of Anarchy connection. Still, making Johnny into a strung-out junkie when he had first-hand experience of what it did to Ashley was definitely out of character to me.

You could just as easily say "those who live by the gun die by the gun." That hasn't happened to many GTA playable characters yet.

It wasn't really a fight, frankly. I would have liked to have seen how Johnny would have handled himself at the top of his game against Trevor. Besides, it didn't have to be Johnny; it could easily be a throwaway antagonist who is known to be dangerous to both Franklin and Michael, but is killed by Trevor for petty revenge when he stops by Trevor's trailer park to dose up on meth or another drug.

I liked Johnny K but it did a good job of showing you how much of a beast Trevor is plus it was a mercy killing he was strung out on meth and didn't even have the balls to stand up to the guy banging his girlfriend.
