Although I guess RF4 is the first RF to let you play as a girl from the get-go.

No, it really doesn't.

No game has ever taken that long ... they may have waited for various other reasons to release a game outside of Japan, but translation time has never been a factor.

I have translated, and helped translate, many things ... including games ... Tag Force 6 being one of them ;) ... so I know of what I speak

It does take some time, depending on how it is coded. Look at Mother 3's fan translation, though they are small and are fans, no where near as big as a real company which probably would have done it a lot faster. Never really paid any attention to Natume, how big is the company anyways? Smaller companies take more time to translate. Natume is generally lazy though, adding in glitches and grammar errors and what not.

Does anyone know if it will be coming out for the regular DS? I got the XL because the regular DS screen is too small and I don't want to buy a 3DS just so I can play Rune Factory 4. I'll never use the 3D function so it's a waste of money.

unfortunately chances are there probably won't be a rune factory 4 for the ds

More than a few RF games have come out same year so it might be same year, but the ones that took longer were typically the DS games so it could go either way. I personally think they will try to take advantage of the 3DS's smaller library to get more attention by releasing it quicker. My main concern is that they don't cop out on the 3D effects other than that it will be great I can't think of a RF that wasn't.

Yeah, I know. But in RF:ToD, there aren't a lot of boys you can marry....Like you said RF4 is the first game to let you play as a girl from the beginning.
