Nobody good at the game is still complaining about it.

Nobody good at the game has ever said it's good.

appeal to Casuals

Yawn. People who want to casually enjoy a fighting game are gamers too. Get over yourself.

To everyone that's still complaining about comeback mechanics:

Go play SFxT. Even though it has Pandora, it's still useless enough and you guys should be satisfied right?

This is a pretty dumb comparison you tried to make since a mechanic that's not useful is always preferable over one that's too useful

I admit x factor should be adjusted more for balance purposes but beyond that,I think its fine. I really like its canceling effect so you can pull of more combos that you couldn't on your own.

Also there are ways to waste x factor time. Put them in a long combo if you can or stall them out.

While I do think comeback mechanics are a little stupid, its suppose to help 09ers get in the game. But those comeback mechanics are still useless if you don't know how to properly utilize them.

.......

So you're telling me that people would rather lose? In a competitive situation with money on the line, you're telling me that people would rather have Pandora as a comeback mechanic than XF?

I don't like X-Factor, I really don't. But I'm not complaining about how borderline broken it is either. You either snap in the character that's more likely to abuse it or you fight against it accordingly.

Brawl will give a player that is losing badly a freebie final smash on one of their respawns, even if you have smash balls off. Heck, even if you have all items off (if I recall correctly). Though this doesn't manifest itself in shorter matches, it still is a comeback mechanic.

That won't happen in games with few stocks though. In a 4 stocks match, the losing player won't be given a Final Smash.

Ummm...

In a competitive situation with money on the line (no idea why this is being used as a basis for a game in general, but), why would you choose an instant crack factor which can turn the tables at any moment over something that you can essentially count out? Unless you're just sure you're a worse player than the other person for some reason. Anyone with a brain would choose Pandora because then it's essentially a normal game.

ITT: people who don't realize supers have always been comeback mechanics and the famous 2004 Daigo EVO moment wouldn't have happened if 3S didn't have supers.

To answer the TC, SF4 needed Ultras because without it the game would have been reduced quickly to a first hit = win game, due to the unforgiving wakeup game and the ease to guard a lead. MvC3 have an even more unforgiving Oki game (one of the most unforgiving ever) so it would have been even worse without X Factor.
