To me its crazy how random this game is

I'm not saying that Marvel 3 is random mess that takes no skill. However, UMVC3 is more fast-paced SF4 could ever possibility be. Vortex can only take one round from you from a hard knockdown(assuming they even get the hard knockdown), and Cammy/Akuma/Seth makes you guess more times than Zero/Vergil/Spencer need you to guess.

The amount guesses in a dominate UMVC3 match.

one clean hit+3-2 guesses(if they play a high/top tier), you can lose a match. Granted this doesn't always happen, but it could.

SF4 vortex is far more hard to escape than incoming mixup ,but you must guess more times. At most you only lose a round, and you get more time to adjust.

UMVC3 is more unforgiving than SF4...that why people get mad salty. To be fair to Marvel 3, the older ones weren't that much better at that concept either.

Maybe random is the wrong word. I am not sure a better word for it. But in short best of 3 sets I just feel like the best player doesn't have as much of an advantage as other fighting games. Maybe outside of Chris G and his purely safe strategy.

I really just don't know how to explain it other then random. Lets just say your playing someone like an AGE Knights or EG Justin Wong. To me they rely extremely heavily on there point character. Sure they could come back with there last 2 characters they are great players, but almost any scrub if they get lucky enough to get the first hit on Wolvie or Spencer will have something that could kill them.

I know its not random. There just isn't a better word. Maybe like less room for mistakes or less forgiving.

it is random though. especially online. you can't deny it. I have more success online doing random crap with wolvy and vergil, than actually playing smart. why you think everyone plays Hulk online but then go to an offline event and no one does.

sure at the highest level of play, randomness is not as apparent. but its still there, thats why omgitzAndre, phoenix players, and other frauds can steal wins from better players.

>online

lol.

Random online maybe because you can't react to things? Online isn't random in the fact that you can't explain how something happened, online is random because you can't react to things and it's Marvel 3. It's all about reactions.

Andre isn't that bad actually, there's obviously reasons why he's consistent in getting top at majors. I know people like to bash him but I've played him and he's decent. Just compared to Champ/Chris G/Yipes he looks like he's an amateur.

Top players call this game random all the time. UltraChen and other commentators say the same too, but they say the top players learned how to keep the random factor low and in their favor. Especially Chris G. All they say about his team is it lowers the randomness of the game.
