It's not about an individual thing. It's not about his reach. It's not even about his damn Spiral Swords.
No, it's the fact that Capcom really f***ing thought it would be logical for a character to have all of these amazing tools!
Let's see, shall we?:
- Fisher Price execution. - Spiral Swords, which have lots of utilities and allow him to TOD. - A jS that causes Groundbounce. - A good projectile in - His own self mixups with Round Trip. - Teleports. - An ultra safe Helm Breaker that leads to full combo with assists. - Decent incoming Mix-ups. - Rapid Slash, a full screen attack that crosses up the enemy into combo. - A full screen Hyper Combo. - A transformation with invincibility that gives him farther reach in his attacks, more damage and an airdash. - Huge range in his normals. - Some of his normals eat projectiles. - The most damaging hyper combo in the game. It should be noted that it can be follow up with something else. - He could have a Guard Break.
And I'm pretty sure I'm still lacking stuff

1)Fisher Price execution- Only at low levels. Granted Sword Loops are easy to do too, but just the basic LMH Stinger Upper Slash stuff isn't that damaging compared to Rising Sun stuff. Most Vergil's I play against online don't really do the latter. 2) j.S - Easy to see coming. Plus Hulk's causes a ground bounce so it's not like Vergil's is anything special really. 3)Swords - You got me here, that IS stupid good 4) Round Trip - Has a decent amount of startup. Personally I find Cap's Shield Slash more annoying to deal with cause it's quicker. Yes he can do a solo mixup with it, but so can Zero, and like I said Round Trip as some startup frames on it. 5)Teleports- Online it's understandable because of lag, but honestly, if you pay attention to Vergil, you can predict which way he goes(although M/H teleports are hard to read) 6) Helm Breaker's only safe if you don't chicken block it/XFC. 7)Rapid Slash can be easily punished if people are just throwing it out, and even at close range just throw out an L or something and bam.
Range and the normals eating projectiles I'll accept but as for Dark Angel, it would be damn near useless if it couldn't easily hit anything. Since it's a 4 bar super it better be worth it. And no, I'm not denying that Vergil is OP, I'm just saying that this late in the game's lifespan I don't think he's THAT big of a threat as people are making him out to be. If he's on anchor, snap him in and kill him just like you would any other problem character. His incoming game in terrible if he's not in DT, and even then it's still not that great. --- Official Zero of the UMvC3 boards.
