So, in Japan, is she blonde? Does she speak Japanese?

Honestly, I'm not too bothered by the change. I personally prefer the version we got, the J-RPG looking version was just too stereotypical. I also like the father-daughter dynamic better than the brother-sister one.

This. I misunderstood nothing. Girlyboy heroes are pathetically lame, and the brother-sister dynamic in so much Japanese material is always played with an uncomfortable, vaguely incesty awkwardness to it. The changes they made were done with the - correct and surprisingly astute - notion that the original design was too "Japanese."

Saying that the whole game was ruined simply because of that lack of a cookie-cutter anime aesthetic is being blinded by weeaboo sensibilities. Open and shut case.

I'm not into guys but I have to say I like you and I'm aroused. Death to weeaboos!

LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE WROUGHT!!!!!

So, they had a brunette Asian girl in the same costume, next to our blonde Jessica.

Was the character blonde in Japan? A blonde cheerleader speaking Japanese?

Anyone?

The character is exactly the same white blonde cheerleader in both versions, they just have a Japanese voice track as well as the English voice track to select from.

So then the better question is, what's the replacement joke in the Japanese audio for the Japanese-speaking bit?

This reminds me of Nier. Japan got the true protagonist while foreigners got a bulky man.

WHAT EXPLAIN

Actually that is wrong.
In japan Nier was released as two very different versions.

#1. Nier Gestalt, is the one released to the rest of the world with the Father/Daughter dynamic.
#2. Nier Replicant is the Japanese only one where you play the brother instead of the father. Many of the levels and areas were changed or modified for this version.. it was made specifically tailored for the Japanese audience.

They changed levels and areas? Everyone I know who's played both says it's just the main character and a bit of the dialogue... what areas were changed?

Also, Gestalt was released in Japan, but only for 360. Replicant was only on Japan/PS3.

They didn't change the levels. At all.

Most of the changes were dialogue related with some animation changes in the cutscenes of as well to better reflect the brother/sister story instead of father/daughter.

The issue with old Neir was the awful character model.

I'm not a weeaboo. In fact I've made fun of extremes on Tvtropes. However your posts are rude and you just look like an ass to everyone.

Also weeaboos are hell of a lot more standable than rednecks.

As a south eastern Kentuckian who grew up with a stable worth of weeaboo acquaintances, I respectfully disagree with that claim.
