I started using Maya not too long ago and went down on her motion tree. From what I read about her Thoughtlock skill, it really didn't sound so great to me. I was wondering if anybody has use this skill and what is your opinion about Thoughtlock. --- JUS FC: 2921-4559-2925 DS Name: moosequito (>")>==============)
I read it, then chose other skills that seemed more appealing. I like using the singularity effect with phaselock to control the enemies a bit(also suck them from cover on occasion). Thoughtlock would interfer with that. The skill that makes the phaselock pass to another enemy if the current phaselock target dies prior to the phaselock ending is worthless too in the long run as it only puts the remaining time on the next enemy, not a new clock. --- "If your going to ask someone to save the world, make sure they like it the way it is" http://www.youtube.com/user/Drakeskull23
I'd imagine it'd be good for a melee/Motion focused Maya build to get a free meatshield on demand, but generally speaking I think there are better things you can do with the points. It's not, like... Gaige's 'More Pep' levels of terrible, but generally speaking it puts your only CC ability on a longer cooldown and may or may not be worthwhile in practice depending on your build. --- Wherever Poppy is, you want to be away from that side of the map - Guardsman Bob
It can be worthwhile, but it requires a bit more effort to be good, and isn't worthwhile in all situations. Snag a badass or other tough enemy and you can make decent use out of it, the badass will kick the crap out of his buddies, and his buddies will whittle him down. --- http://img356.imageshack.us/img356/8325/scrunchface2copyfx0.png http://www.xboxlc.com/cards/default/alle5.jpg
It's awesome, one of her best skills. Instantly turns the tide of any battle (assuming you use it on something not phaselock immune). And it doesn't interfere with converge at all. I don't know where you'd get that idea from.
Thoughtlock is a phenomenal skill, never let anyone tell you otherwise. Nothing is faster than clearing out waves of suicide attackers, and keeping melee attackers off your back -- especially paired with subsequence/helios, and converge. It also lets you set up enemies nicely for headshots, when they're either more interested in killing each other or pacified.
Especially for the fact sniper rifles' scopes allow you to target enemies for thoughtlock at vastly further ranges than you otherwise could.
Thoughtlock a suicide psycho for example, converge pulls every other one near it (and probably a badass, too). They all immediately blow themselves up, and/or drop all their grenades. Subsequence triggers four or five times in rapid order, causing that many extra helios detonations. You're left with a severely weakened, thoughtlocked badass you can off with a single headshot. Bonus points if you have your hands on a Maliwan sniper rifle and can hit the whole lot with a status effect (preferably slag) in a single shot.
