Level Cap increase could "break the game. Sometimes very literally."

@Guggerbunk I'll say: 100% chance of a level cap increase this year, but 50\50 on unforeseen consequences that some people will rage about.

I think he means "16% of those ONLINE with SHIFT accounts".

Both me and my bro have level 50 characters, no GOLD or SHIFT. Is he really trying to tell us this poll is in anyway accurate...? LOL.

Modders have shown that it won't actually PHYSICALLY break the game. Difficulty wise? Likely. Is there ways around it? Yes.

I saw this problem a mile off when they started showing ridiculously high damage power for the weapons. Once you get to higher weapon/shield levels there would simply be too much of a distance in the damage done. Too high up in the levels and you do like 1 damage to an enemy just a level or two higher than you, unable to get any weapons that can actually damage them. This was truly a predictable state of affairs, and worrying they never saw it coming.

The only way around it is a complete restructuring of the damage/health system. I'm sure they could create some sort of blanket damage/health modifier to bring everything down to proper damage/health levels. Of course, zillions of trolls would call bull**** when they see that their guns and shields all have "smaller numbers" not realizing they work exactly the same against the enemies they're fighting (since the enemies get recalculations done too).

OF COURSE, this would insinuate that Gearbox have skill with this type of thing. It's just a recalculation, RIGHT? Well, anyone who's had a BA Rank Reset and not got their TRUE BA Rank back (which just requires a simple recalculation) KNOWS Gerarbox is incapable of this.

I love this game and Gearbox, but this no new level cap increase, along with DLC 4 not being the mega expansion has just pissed me the **** off. It truly is disappointing. Especially since only a month ago, they were hinting at a new level cap, a playthrough 3 and a mega expansion by the end of March.

Look at how well they did with recalculating damage on amp shields.

They're not going to say no because of the implication.

so basically the issue is not the cap increase breaking the game. its the cap increase being beyond the abilities of gearbox.

why the F*** did they change it from BL1?

Developers for MMO's do this 3x over, sometimes in one year.

Strap on some boots and get it done, Gearbox. If it doesn't happen, no big deal, I'll move on to the next game. I still love Borderlands, but when none of my friends play it, it becomes boring.

As a big fan of BL1 I bought Borderlands 2 expecting it to have lots of fun dlc that would keep the game alive for a long time.

In fact when I saw that the lvl 50 achivement was called "Level cap...for now" , it was all the motivation I needed to buy the season pass.

Now that 3 dlc are out and that I've been lvl 50 for quite a while, I have to admit that I had no interest in playing those expansions and waste all that quest xp I could have used to work on lvl 51+.

Sadly if there's no more levels to work on and the only way to progress is to farm a raid boss once a day , I don't see the point to keep playing. The biggest appeal to me in this game, besides the funny quests and cool art style, was the fact that you had a feeling of progression every time you played. Now its gone.

I can understand why they don't want people to have multiple "end tree" skills that would make some class way too OP. IMO that shouldn't stop them from raising the cap.

Lots of mmo and other rpg added new "elite skills" you would get only on the new level passed the old cap. New skills that wouldn't break the game but would give players something to work on.

One thing's for sure, without a higher level cap I have no intention of buying any new dlc, as funny as they may be. I still have 1 more free expansion coming with my season pass and I think I won't even try it if the only thing I can get from it is a legendary weapon that'll take countless hours to farm.

people keep refereeing to BL1. Know one seems to realize BL1 was horribly balanced. Gearbox wants balance, bl1 was not balance. I guess people complaining don't care because they don't care about balance it's fun for then to hold the trigger and watch everything for with no chance of them ever being touched.

Oh, you thought they made this game for you? You clearly bought the wrong game.
