System Requirements?

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to the recommended settings to play this? I've read from various sources that either a 6770 or a 560Ti is needed to play this game. I have a Radeon 6850 that plays the first one at a constant 62 fps on 1920x1080 so I was wondering if I would be fine using that.

Steam actually has the recommended system specifications up already:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/
Minimum:
OS: Windows XP SP3
Processor: 2.4 GHz Dual Core Processor
Memory: 2 GB(XP)/ 2 GB(Vista)
Hard Disk Space: 20 GB free
Video Memory: 256 MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 /ATI Radeon HD 2600

Recommended:
OS: Windows XP SP3/Vista/Win 7
Processor: 2.3 GHz Quad Core processor
Memory: 2 GB
Hard Disk Space: 20 GB free
Video Memory: 512MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 / ATI Radeon HD 5850

You're closer to the "Recommended" side than the minimum, so it should run just fine. If not completely maxed, it should run at fairly high settings.

Obviously it's not actually out yet, so we can't go off personal experiences to help refine performance expectations further.

Alright, thanks. I'm just surprised that a 560 is the recommended since the first one had lower requirements.

The first also came out 3 years ago and didn't have quite the same focus on the PC market. The second is implementing some PC-only features such as PhysX support and the like. The minimum requirements are still extremely low for the average PC game these days.

Do you also get surprised when the sun rises in the morning?

It's a sequel to a game that came out over 3 years ago. It's only natural that advancements have been made that require better hardware to run it. Even though it's still running on UE3, the engine has been heavily tweaked and improved since BL1. I would have been surprised to NOT see higher requirements than the original.

Tweaked and improved could also mean that the developers figured out ways to optimize things so that they could handle the same graphics load that Borderlands generated with weaker hardware. I'm not saying that such a scenario is particularly likely, I'm merely pointing out that it's a possibility for all that it's not a probability.
