whos action skill scales best?

Wow, some immature replies to my post. First, I never said I stand next to his decoy to get hit, but thanks for the great assumption. I just said I think phaselock scales better overall because it has more usefulness. It does spike, corrosion, fire, slag, and lightning damage to bosses, so I like it just fine. After I finish Gunzerker, I'll play Zer0 all the way up and will probably have a better grasp of how good it is end game. If you'd like to illustrate it for me, please do so without being insulting.

True, but I was referring the connotation people associate with various generic versions of their brand name counterparts. I can see how it could be confusing, but I think you got the point either way. Correcting grammar, diction, punctuation, etc., on a public forum is childish unless it's so atrocious it's practically disrespecting English.

I think it's funny that no one in this topic is using "scale" right in the context the OP meant it.

Sal's scales based on his equipment directly.

Zer0's half does, as the weapon boost always goes up with your damage but the melee there's only so much you can do for.

Axton and Maya's don't scale with your gear at all.

Mods make them all scale in some way or another.

I just did phaselock on a 50 buzzard and it did an 8th of its health. The thing is useless for damage without Ruin.

That's incorrect. They all scale with gear...

As they have x% damage increases, they scale as your weapons/gear scale. They get stronger as your mods improve. The +5 blight phoenix Maya gets is considerably stronger with the +6 you can get from gear. You could argue that phaselock itself does no damage, thus it doesn't scale. You could say it has elements attached to it that increase/decrease in damage as you change your COM. Either way, that's a form of scaling.

But I agree, I wasn't talking about weapon/gear scaling specifically in my first post. I just thought it would be more insightful to include usefulness of the abilities end game. Damage doesn't matter when the skill loses its usefulness over time.

How would you rate that? Zer0 does gain, to my knowledge, a bigger jump in damage per single shot from having a Skullmasher than Maya. Maya gains more damage than Zer0 for group damage having a Nukem (ruin, converge). What matters more? Crowd control? Bosses where CCx7 + The Bee = rape regardless of your job?

To OP, I'd say it's irrelevant. BL2 is a LOT more balanced than BL1 was and most all classes are very viable. Play whichever one you think would be more fun.

So you're saying the skill isn't useful without knowing what it does. Why again, should I not be "insulting?"

Death Bl0ss0om not only does everything that phaselock does to bosses, it also adds Death Mark which is a 20% increase in damage on top of slag that everyone benefits from. That's ignoring the fact you can get an additional 250% critical damage from guns or 650% from melee by attacking at the last second of Decepti0n and the ability to use the decoy as a high damage electric grenade.

Scaling has nothing to do with usefulness.

Only character I've played is Zer0, level 36, just hit Sanctuary in TVHM. I was told his action skill is less effective in Playthrough #2 (with melee) but I find it keeping up still, and I use it often. I also use it to attack much more often than I use it to flee though.

Depends on what you regard as when it scales...

because frankly axtons scales every level

gunzerk scales off weapons

zero is meh on meh with a side of meh

and maya has a useless one vs bosses...

and I'd like to see you take out verminious or terramorph using zeros action skill for things OTHER than fleeing...

it just doesn't happen (its been done) because its so terribly ineffective

You should probably learn how to play Maya and Zer0. And how to spec Axton (hint: Guerrilla, not Survivor).
