Does Borderlands 2 allow customization or crafting of your own weapon?

I have bought Borderlands and Borderlands GOTY for the PC. (Why they couldn't have bothered to remove the datecheck drm on the GOTY version is beyond me. Anyway...)

I have not bought Borderlands 2, because it was using Steam. Might consider it though.

Anyway, I heard that Borderlands 2 has this weapon parts identification feature. Does Borderlands 2 allow you to make your own weapons with the parts you want?

In Borderlands 1, guns are in abundant supply. The problem, however, was that finding a gun with specific parts to your liking, is an extremely low probability. The only way to get that perfect weapon with the perfect parts to your liking, is to keep grinding your sanity away, until you eventually get the part you want. And even then, it's still an extremely low chance.

I almost tore my hair out, when I came across this near perfect Hellfire, but it came with a Thumper magazine. And sometimes I get these good guns, that just didn't come with a scope. All I need was to replace that one single bad part, and I just couldn't do it. The only way I could get the exact parts I need, was to cheat with Willowtree.

So I have to ask. In Borderlands 2, can you make your own weapons, without grinding your sanity away with those 1000,000 armory trips and 999,999 Crawmerax runs?

In other words, it's the same sanity grinding. Again. For the second time.

*facepalm*

Should have known the only way to get that done was modding...

Goodbye, my sanity....

Well, I lost half of it in BL1 anyway....

What exactly do you think you were doing with willowtree? You were modding. You just had an interface to help you, so it was more user friendly.

Rule 1. I am always right.
Rule 2. If in any case I appear wrong, refer to rule 1.

I am positive that I never claimed that willowtree wasn't modding.

Anyway, I'm just looking for a legitimate way of getting the right parts for gear. Doesn't look like its possible.

It's not. The game by nature is a grinding loot fest.

With maths. Salvador hates maths. Gaige seems fine with it.
