If I hated the GBA Rayman, should I give this game a chance?

Ok, so this seems to be considered the best game on the system right now, and well, that caught my attention, although to be honest, the only thing I know about Rayman is what I played of the GBA game. I figured that I'd go ask fans of this game what makes this game worth playing before looking into reviews, and take it all in.

What I do know about Rayman:

It's a platformer, and I usually enjoy platformers, from Super Mario on the NES and SNES, to Daxter on the PSP. I obviously like several more, but I think you get the idea.

Ok, so here were my issues with the GBA Rayman:

The UBER annoying, repetitive "soundtrack."

The fact that you would go a very very long time without a save point, when the game is very very hard.

The UBER annoying, repetitive 5 second long "soundtrack."

The fact that the game looked like Putt Putt on the 3D0. Seriously, it's not often that I actually complain about a game's graphics, but dear god were those some bad asthetics!

Oh, and one more thing.

The UBER annoying, repetitive 5 second long "soundtrack" that made the game feel like I was playing the worlds most annoying Atari 2600 games! Dear god was that horrid.

Anyways, I know this intro post is written a bit wierd, but please, take this seriously, as I actually do want to like this game.

Thank you for your time.

This games on a whole new level, man. It's the best 2D platformer since the Mario's on the SNES. Arguably better...just not as novel.

Get this anyway!

(Get it on Wii / PS3 / 360 so you can play with friends, though)

Um...saying to get it anyways doesn't really tell me anything.

As for to get it on a console, not an option. I don't even have a Vita yet, although I plan to sometime this year if I can find a good deal.

If you want to know why it's one of the best 2D Plat's of all time, just look up reviews, man. Let's just say 60fps, the best cell shaded graphics to date, zany sense of humor in level design, hidden items, 60+ levels and overall polish are some of the pro's, and the game has no real cons.

I was about to say this feels like a troll attempt so I clicked your name. GOD DAMN lol...I don't know what to say.

But on a serious note, this game is great. Its really hard to find flaws in it unless you nitpick. It looks gorgeous on the vita and the gameplay is really smooth. I love the soundtrack, specially the mellow water stages.

It's extremely creative. The characters, environments, and music all have a very special charm.

The game is difficult, while not frustrating due to it's amount of checkpoints (good thing). You'll be challenged, but you won't just throw your controller and give up saying "this sucks, I hate this".

And some of the levels are just damn impressive (especially later on). My favourite is one of the levels where the entire stage is falling and breaking apart. Felt like the set pieces of Uncharted, in a 2D platformer, and I loved it. Some of the bosses are a bit IWBTG, though.

All of your issues with the GBA Rayman are remedied.
