How many unlockable characters are there? How much content is there? About how long is this game? And is there a lot of stuff to collect to keep me coming back to it?

I ended up getting this dispite the one save slot. I will say that this is a great game and the graphics are console quality. Not sure the exact number of characters but I think it is maybe 8? There are tons of things to find making the replay value high. I have not played alot because my kids won't put this down. If you like the mario games you will love this. IMO this is better than Mario.

In order:
-A lot, though most of them are really re-colorings of one character unfortunately.
-Tons, there are speed run missions, multiple items to find in each level, high scores to beat, etc.
-Over 20-30 hours depending on how long it takes you to collect everything in each level.
-Look back at #2
