HiGHFLYiN9Posted 4/26/2012 5:06:15 PM | I'm stuck in Level 6 in the Fire area, I'm trying to get the wall to open up with the Sword of Nex inside it. I've run around and pressed the switches like 6 or 7 times now in the proper order (no easy feat) and nothing happens, nothing at all. I've tried picking up the torch afterward, leaving the torch in place, stepping off the last platform to the right and to the back. I followed this exactly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEEZLm8BIEA
Is there something I'm supposed to do before this puzzle will allow the wall to open? Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated! |
OrangeSchweesePosted 4/26/2012 5:43:24 PM (edited) | I can't remember exactly but it involves removing the key as well as the torch near said key.
Here, just watch this video. :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct-Gk1ySreU
Also, the official gameplay hint forum is probably a better place to visit if you need help. http://www.grimrock.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=13 |
KracKilsPosted 4/26/2012 7:09:45 PM | I spent way too many hours on this puzzle and really the trick to getting around to each button in time came down to strafing when possible rather than turning. |
HiGHFLYiN9 (Topic Creator) Posted 4/26/2012 8:26:56 PM | I finally worked it out, I was neglecting to run around and press the last button. This was a tough one. I'm pretty surprised anyone could figure this out on their own. |
JabbrwockPosted 4/27/2012 7:30:24 AM | That's the same problem I had. I noticed by accident that there was a trapdoor closed there that opened when I got near it, and thought "Hey, there's a button there, I bet I have to press that one too!" I was about to punch my computer until I noticed that. --- The most important thing to remember about sword-chucks is that they are almost as dangerous to your opponent as they are to you. |
khoaNGxPosted 4/28/2012 1:29:35 AM | Watching that guy in the first video struggle with that Fire Dude was very irritating. Haha. But yes, there's 4 buttons around the pillar for a reason :P |
tzuydPosted 4/28/2012 1:52:59 AM | It never occurred to me to move the torch; I honestly thought it was a Toorum-only puzzle and completed it on my second play through instead :) --- "Instead of engaging the trolls and playing their game, mark them and move on. Engaging the trolls only gets you into trouble." |
blue_devil_99Posted 5/1/2012 8:46:41 AM | I found it helpful to change the controls for this puzzle:
Change move/strafe from wasd to up, down, left, and right arrows.
Press alt+left shift+numlock in Windows to allow you to use the numpad as a mouse- 5 on the numpad left clicks.
Now, facing the first button, center the mouse in the middle of the screen. You can now use your right hand do move with the arrows, your right pinky to click the buttons with numpad 5, and your left hand to turn with Q and E. At least for me (right handed) this was MUCH easier than trying to use QWEASD to move and turn all with my non-dominant hand. |
