Persona 4 Golden

Can someone explain to me the Persona and SMT series in relation to each other?

Like..what is the order of the games, and which games are related to each other and whatnot?

Different Universes... pretty much.

"SMT if" is somehow related to the first two persona games I think, which are both seemingly set apart from P3/4 but probably still take place in the same world.

Raidou 1->Raidou 2 (law ending)->SMT1->SMT2

Raidou 1->Raidou 2 (chaos ending)->Nocturne

Raidou 1->Raidou 2 (neutral)->SMT: If..->Devil Summoner 1->Persona 1->Soul Hacker->Persona 2: Innocent Sin (spoiler happens)

Raidou 1->Raidou 2 (neutral)->SMT: If..->Devil Summoner 1->Persona 1->Soul Hacker->Persona 2: Eternal Punishment->Persona 3->Persona 4

Strange Journey, Devil Survivor 1, Devil Survivor 2, and DDS happen in their own universe. Basically due to the Amala network most of the games are connected in some way.

Persona, Devil Survivor, DDS, and Devil Summoner are all spin off the main SMT titles.

I'm pretty sure Nocturne occurred in the same universe as SMT2.

You can play any of the series without a prior one. The stories might be connected vaguely, but they can all stand on their own.

Keep in mind though that the earlier ones are brutally difficult.

Persona, Devil Survivor, DDS, and Devil Summoner are all spin off the main SMT titles.

Of course let's not forget that SMT is itself a spin-off of the main Megami Tensei titles.

That's impossible since Tokyo was still intact before a certain something happened in Nocturne. SMT2 is the continuation of the neutral ending in SMT1 where something also happened to Tokyo.
