Wait, Katsura Hashino isn't directing this either?

I just realised that in the new opening, he's listed as the producer, not the director. This probably explains the stylistic changes.

I guess it also confirms that Persona 5 is in full swing.

The stylistic changes do kinda reflect the theme of Persona 4.

People longed for a world "shrouded in fog," where they don't see any of the dark and undesirable truths, but instead only see what they wish to see-- things that make them happy and feel good.

And that's why the opening contains dead bodies hanging from telephone poles while cheery music plays and vibrant, colorful visuals roll across the screen.

Even so, I think Hashino's lesser involvement is a big part of the changes.

Technically he could be both. That vide doesn't exactly list anybody else as director (except Soejima is listed as Art Director. It's possible that he directed the opening movie done by Madhouse which would still leave Hashino directing the actual game)

I think it's more likely that Hashino is producing and the director is some lower down guy in Atlus, like in P4U.

And art director isn't anything to do with the opening, it just means that the vision that the art team works towards in terms of aesthetics is his.

I disagree, I don't think that's likely at all. Why would they have a separate person direct add-ons to what's already been directed? Hashino still directed FES (and I think even P3P) so I'd argue it's more likely he's still on directing duty for this one.

It doesn't seem odd at all that P4:A was directed by someone else, but there's no reason Hashino wouldn't take the reigns on this one.

P3P wasn't Hashino, so it would make sense if this wasn't either. If he was the director, he'd be listed as such. Director is a more significant role than producer (By a large amount, no less).

That's true
By the way the director for P1 & P2:IS remake was Shoji Meguro (not sure about EP though)

Ok, I wasn't sure about P3P. Well we'll just wait and see on this one then.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure Meguro did the latest EP too.
