So this will probably be standard priced right?

I'm looking at it this way. I loved Persona 4 and spent quite a lot of time on it. They are adding a fair amount on new content to this version to keep my attention for quite a lot more time.

Alternatively I could buy the HD port of Final Fantasy X which I enjoyed, but never really felt a need to even look at again. I personally felt it to be a weak entry in the series and until Final Fantasy XIII came out was pretty much the low point of the series for me.

Third option, there are a ton of RPGs in the PSN store that I never got around to playing at all. I'm already playing through the Ys series again though and would kind of like to get something new for my Vita. Of course we still have a bit of a wait for Persona 4.

One of the goals they have is to make money.
We need money and so do they, if this keep them going and people buy it and people are happy with this, then so be it. (and we get higher odds of getting persona 5 )

This is one of the better remakes i seen from the looks of it, maybe they are adding new things to make sure they get sales, so what? sales are what they need to make money and as long it done right, it better for the people who play the game. so it win win, and no one making you buy the game so you have the right not to buy it, (or just get a ps2 copy and have done with it if you feel that too high for a remake game)

So a 60+ hours game with magnificent story, almost different routes everytime you play it (S. Links and used personas/team members), incredible character development qith a chance that it might get a big part of your soul seems outpriced for $40?

This is more like the same route that generates different road signs each time you take it.

Persona 4 out-performed. That's why it's getting all this attention now, they're trying to go back and get everything they can out of it.

Persona 3 also sold well over 500k. It wasn't like it was just Persona 4. And a game doesn't need to sell millions of copies to be mainstream. A more niche JRPG would be something like Ar Tonelico. Persona is pretty standard.

Hardly. I'm not even sure how you could call them routes. The social links are quite shallow. Just a handful of short events that have no affect on the story. Not to mention you could do most of them on a single playthrough.

It.. kind of does, in actual practice. There are outliers to all things but generally to be mainstream means that the product has a great degree of mass market appeal and popularity.. something that Persona doesn't really have outside of its much smaller JRPG market.

I got the game preordered for $20 after using a $20 amazon promotion I got for basically nothing but complaining about a pricing error on the 32GB memory sticks which I was able to get honored for $40.

I love amazon.
