Famitsu has some major Atlus news this week. The magazine reveals that development has started on Shin Megamitensei IV. The target for this latest numbered entry in the Megaten franchise is 3DS.

According to Sinobi, who gets Famitsu in advance, Atlus will open an official site for the game at megaten4.jp tomorrow.

The only thing I have to say is that it's good to have a 3DS right now. I have Soul Hackers and SMT4 to look forward to.

Did the actual reveal use the words Shin Megami Tensei IV?

Because I'm pretty sure even Kaneko said he considered SJ to be SMTIV.

Either way, if that is what this is officially called, I guess it'll put an end to that debate.

I'm also gonna take this to mean I was right in saying GF was wrong for turning the Shin Megami Tensei 3DS board into Soul Hackers.

EDIT: Yeah, just looked into it some more. I guess they did call it that, huh? Well good for them.

...There is gonna be a LOT of "I told ya so's" runnin' around the net the next few weeks >_>

Well, we needed a Soul Hackers board anyway, so...

If I remember correctly, the domain name for the game's site (that will open tomorrow) is along the lines of megaten4.co.jp. I believe Kaneko stated Strange Journey was supposed to be IV but then they decided not to number it; ATLUS USA definitely says it is not IV.

The orthodox SMT (including the ancestral MT) titles ALWAYS take place in Tokyo, so they didn't name SJ SMT4. But I won't be surprised if they once again deviate from this tradition in the coming SMT4.

So lets see what we've got in 2012 so far...

Devil Survivor 2 (western release)
Persona 4: Golden
Persona 4: Arena
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (western date currently unknown)
Soul Hackers 3DS (western date currently unknown)

And now announcement of Shin Megami Tensei IV being officially revealed. This added on top of the knowledge that P5 is also in development.

Is this just the best year for MegaTen fans or what?

With the announcement of SMT4 on 3DS, the possibility for Soul Hackers 3DS remake got western release is even higher than Eternal Punishment.

One thing I really want is to have the battle system from Nocturne,Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 . It could look like Strange Journey but I want Press Turns to be in it.

Guess I'll get 3DS over Vita then(since I can't have both).

Anyway here's a pic of the magazine: http://www.siliconera.com/2012/05/29/rumour-shin-megami-tensei-iv-coming-to-nintendo-3ds/
