I like the honorifics in the game. Heck, if it goes my way, I want all Japanese audio is kept intact and provide subtitle. The same thing goes to game made outside US. Keep their original audio intact, whether it's Polish, Russian, etc. It goes both ways. If I were a Korean, I wanted Diablo or WoW to be spoken in English(or common or Orcish) and just provide the subtitle for me. --- Game Unlockables:1990s: New scenarios, characters, weapons, costumes, etc. Nowadays: Harder difficulty!
Also I feel that the authenticity argument is a little dodgy, as oft-times the honorifics are not even preserved in entirety from the original.. but rather changed around or shoved into scenes that may not have had them in the first place. More of an issue in P3 though, I suppose. Especially around Junpei. --- What can change the nature of a man?

Most of the Japanese people I've spoken to use at least some honorifics in their English speech. Seeing it in a game set in Japan is not strange at all.

Im_A_Dog posted... releases. I honestly don't see the point of them being in an English language game, especially when most people won't know their meanings anyways. They just seem really out of place and unnecessary. The Persona series could gain a larger audience from their removal as well as the games won't seem so overly Japanese. What do you think? I disagree 1000%. The games take place IN JAPAN. It makes it authentic to hear them using honorifics. Now I never played the original Persona on PSOne, but I know they made it Americanized. What a disgusting thing to do. And guess what? The PSP remake kept the original character designs, etc. That's what Persona fans want. I don't give a rat's ass what outside gamers think, it take an hour tops of gameplay to figure out what the honorifics mean. If you are too stupid to figure it out, or look in the instruction manual that tells you what they mean, then don't play them. They should stay, end of story. --- PSN: XIII_Lightning XBL: xDagger1087

I kinda like the honorifics it gives the game a more Japanese feel, However i wouldn't mind if they removed it. I probably wouldn't even notice it. |
