in my NG+, very hard, vanilla Izanagi only run and the grind, which I enjoy in general, is starting to annoy me.

I realize grinding isn't the point of VH, but here's the thing that bugs me. My party is lvl 17 all with decent, possibly above average gear. I'm on the 2nd floor and a lone gigas shadow that can effectively one shot anyone besides the MC is worth only 26 exp. It takes any member and Izanagi 3-5000 experience for one level. Even elaborate groups of shadows (still only only on the second floor) just barely make 80-90 experience per fight

This doesn't even feel like grinding, it's just cruel. I'm scared to fight the half point boss since, of course, it's a gigas with power charge and physical attacks.

I could easily spend 10 hours grinding these few floors and make only a few levels for everyone, but am I just being paranoid? Should I just take a chance?

Also: I see you can customize your difficulty now. meaning you could have the very easy mode huge exp/yen boost while maintaining very hard combat and retry settings. Is there any sort of penalty for changing difficulty besides lowered epeen? I don't see any trophies related to difficulty.

Only penalty you'd have is a smaller Epeen. But tbh if you're just gonna grind for 10 hours, what are you gonna brag about? I did a Izanagi only run on VH and beat it, but I grinded for literally over 9000 hours, meaning, anyone could do that, so me doing a Izanagi only run on VH wasnt even anything special/a challenge, so I just wasted all that time grinding.

But yeah Id boost my EXP no doubt. Thats just ridiculous.
Remember, when you choose Very Hard it does ask if you hate yourself.

Well, I went back in with only exp/money boosted, encountered a golden hand (2 in fight), beat both and walked off with 9000 exp and 50,000 yen. Damn that feels good.

So wait, you can switch the rate of exp/money gain on the fly in NG+?

I'm just about to finish the true end, and I'll be looking forward to that in the NG+.

The purpose of Very Hard is not grind like a mad man. If you want to grind, mind as well play Hard because the enemies will hit the same. Only difference you'll be getting more EXP/Yen in the process.

Original name for this mode: Risky; You feel like taking a chance?

Yea, it appears to have a completely customizable menu, you can switch each thing individually instead of just the entire mode

The extra exp is the grind easy option. Grinding for that long only shows how long you've spent in the game. Not being able to continue will call for undue restarts that may take two or three agonizing levels off the top.

Not saying you should but it doesn't hurt anything. Hell, you can grind without the extra XP but turn the continue on. I grinded for about two or three hours without saving because I was actually owning but got mudo'ed and almost cried because of it.
