so i was runing between 2 floors opening chests hopeing for the reaper to apper but i looked a the ansers here on gamefaqs and i came across this

The reaper encounter has changed from the original game. It now appears on the first playthrough and after you open 20-22 chests not in the current chest you opened. Once you hear it just start wandering the current floor until it appears, going to a higher or lower floor resets the chest count.

so how does this work u need to open 20 - 22 chests but u cant chage floors theres like a max of 4 chests per floor so how does it work then?

Step 1: Open 20 chests (NOT GOLDEN CHESTS).
Step 2: Go to the fifth floor of Yukiko's Castle, then Goho-M out, return to the entrance and save.
Step 3: Go back to the fifth floor of Yukiko's Castle and open the only two chests on the floor (the chances of encountering the Reaper increase if the chest is the last one opened on the floor). You'll hear the rattling chains after the first (21st), and you'll have a chance of encountering the Reaper on the 2nd (22nd). If not, reload and retry.

i am on my 1st plaything im on the final dungeon i was hopeing to get the best weapons before finishing the game. does the yukiko castle thing still work even though im on the last dungeon? but again the the thing that confuses me is the idea that i cant go up or down floors theres not 20 chests on a floor and if going yup a floor resets it how does that work?

The counter only resets between floors if you're hearing the chain sounds at the time. So you collect the first 20 however you like, but 21 and 22 have to be on the same floor.

ah ok so going by what u said ive been going between floor 2 and floor 4 of the last dungeon ive open 32 chests why havnt i ever heard any sounds so far im i just that unlucky?

I got it just going through Yomatso, or whatever the last dungeon is called for the True Ending, like normal, i.e. killing all enemies and opening all chests.


Thank God for Homunculus'; his whole-party instant light/dark attacks connected quite a bit.

lol again i must just be unlucky im now up to 39 chests and still no luck is there still something im not getting?
