finaleusPosted 12/25/2012 4:53:36 PM | I remember reading previously that most people on the forums thought she was useless... and while I guess she isn't that useful for boss battles, she is SO fricking useful. All elements + megidolaon for golden hands? Yes please.
Also, I remember people saying Yosuke is by far the best, but from experience I find him worse than everyone but Chie. Yukiko, Kanji and Teddie are who I usually take in for boss fights... and then Kanji (he's cute, so I always use him), Yukiko/Teddie and Naoto for exploring, when I'm not leveling lower leveld characters up.
Still have no clue what Yosuke's good for apart from wind magic, which I can take care of myself/have Naoto for. Chie is just rubbish, and there's no disputing that. |
MogMoogle1Posted 12/25/2012 4:56:28 PM | She was pretty inefficient during boss fights, but they really beefed her up for P4G. With some useful skill and what seems to be an SP reduction to Almighty spell cost, she is definitely more viable to use.
Still though, I prefer other characters myself. --- ~~~PSN: YukiSeraph Persona 4 Golden: http://i.imgur.com/Ui84Q.gif |
xSetaxPosted 12/25/2012 4:59:48 PM | Naoto was pretty bad in the original when it came to boss fights, sporting only a almighty spell as her only source of damage that dealt really anything to it. In golden however, they give her two -dyne spells as well as access to the other two during bike rides. They really did buff her in some ways. And Chie, well, can't argue with the damage that she does later on. --- Life sucks, so if your's is easy, your doing it wrong. |
Rayearth87Posted 12/25/2012 5:00:22 PM | I think Naoto's very useful, she's great in random battles, and she's not bad in boss battles. She actually can have a pretty good damage output if you use equipment to boost Bufudyne. She can get up to 75% boost through her gun and an accessory, and Mind Charged Bufudyne can do solid damage. So that added to her utility while climbing the dungeons I think makes it hard for me to consider the worst. |
Birth_By_SorrowPosted 12/25/2012 5:02:35 PM | She has the 3rd best damage output possibility (Frost gun which gives 25% extra ice damage plus accessory that gives 50% + Mind Charge) so anyone who says she is useless for boss battles is either uninformed or is biased.
She is extremely useful in random battles. If she has all Dyne spells + Dark/Light spells she is the best sweeper in the game. She is added to my party immediately once I obtain her and my personal skill set for her is:
Agidyne Garudyne Bufudyne Ziodyne Mahamaon Mamudoon Megidolaon Mind Charge
Heat Riser (which many people use) only benefits one party member, so it is inferior to all Ma-buffs and is a waste of a turn . Her unique skill for her 3rd Tier Persona is far too costly in SP, especially since it will only come in handy for the 3 or so boss battles she can actually take part in while another skill can come in handy for the possibly hundreds of random battles you'll have with her. |

Or stuck in Vanilla version. That would be listed under "biased." :P |
johnbleuPosted 12/25/2012 5:20:01 PM | No one has responded to why Yosuke is so good yet! I've wondered the same thing. First time through on PS2 I booted Yosuke for Kanji and never used him again. Now on Golden I'm trying to keep him in my main party...so far (late level 30s) he's nothing special. Does he just have a higher crit rate...? --- Currently playing: Persona 4 Golden, Lord of the Rings Online |
Ultima_LordPosted 12/25/2012 5:25:31 PM | Yeah I used to think Naoto was useless, but definitely not in Golden.
Yosuke is pretty much good at everything. He can heal, he can buff, he does decent wind damage, he does decent physical damage. I would say he's not necessarily great at anything, but he's really solid, and not leaving my party. --- "LEMME TELL YA A LIL' SHOMETHN' ABOUT WORK. ArtiRockPosted 12/25/2012 5:29:01 PM | Naoto is fine in Golden. I still think she's the worst party member. But being the worst when everyone is good is a moot point. Unlike Vanilla, where she was actually kind of bad outside of random encounters.
Yosuke is good because he has something for every situation that can arise in the game. Plus, he is the only party member with Wind besides Naoto. It also helps that he joins earlier which means more time to build up his S.Link. --- This is the duty of the Grim Angels. |
