Best Party Member builds/skills

I was just wondering, is there an accepted standard for the best builds each party member should have if you only consider their default and social link skills?

With characters like Naoto and Yukiko, I'm a bit confused as to what skills they should have by the end game.

For Yukiko: Salvation Agidyne Maragidyne Samerecarm Fire Break/Amp/Boost from Default and Evade Ice from Social

Naoto depends on whether or not you want an Instant Kill only or a physical or Mage damage helper during dungeon crawling

Instant Kill: Hamaon/Mahamaon Hama boost Mudoon/Mamudoon Mudo bust frpm defaut Invigorate 3 and last one optional

Physical: Tetrakarn Blight Vorpal Blade Deathbound Tempest Slash from Default and Heat Riser and Invigorate 3 from Social again Last one up to you

Mage Megidoloan Garudyne Agidyne and Tetrakarn from default Mind Charge Invigorate 3 Heat Riser from Social again last one up to you

Yukiko only misses out on Mind Charge and Matarunda from Bike Rides (and mayyybe Spirit Drain)

Agidyne
Burning Petals
Salvation
Samarecarm
Fire Amp
Evade Ice

The last 2 are up for debate. Fire Boost is good if you're not going to use the +50% Fire Damage accessory. Fire Break is an okay pick. Mudoon too.

The only change Bike Rides really make is that you'd add Mind Charge and then have one more to pick. (And you'd add Matarunda and Spirit Drain to the list of Maybe's).

ETA - Naoto is pretty bad as a physical though (especially without Myriad Arrows from Bike).
Mind Charge , Medigoloan , Mahamon, Mamudoon , Hama Boost , Mudo Boost , Invigorate 3 , Vorpal Blade or Heat Riser , would be my instal-kill setup. Since nothing absorbs Light/Dark and her Persona ends up being immune to them there's not a lot of point to the single target variants. (You could also swap Medigoloan and VoproalBlade/Heatdiser out for Agidyne and Garudyne)

There are tons of good builds for Naoto and Yukiko on the forums. You can't go wrong building Yukiko, but generally ignore the following spells: Mudo, Mudoon, Recarm, Samerecarm and single target spells.

As long as you have the following skills on Yukiko, the rest of the skills are up to you.

Fire Amp, Salvation, Burning Petals, Evade Ice.

Recommended skills:

Fire Boost. This is a good choice unless you're going maximum damage Yukiko with items obtainable only from Heaven onwards.

Mind Charge. Premier damage choice. Turns Yukiko into the most destructive magic based attacker on your team. Not absolutely necessary, and it's also the 5th Bike Skill, meaning it'll be unavailable to you for most of the game unless you specifically invest time to try and get it.

Matarunda. This is just a place holder until you can actually get debilitate on your MC. Having another party member carry a debuff is a life saver, and works amazingly well in tandem with kanji's Masukunda. You don't want to have thi son Yukiko at end-game though.

This guy has the right idea, but none of his skill choices are optimal. Ideally, Naoto should never cover all instant kills - having MC cover one half of the spectrum while a mixed mage/instant kill Naoto is better since it allows you to end most battles within one turn. Using Naoto for physical is a horrible idea unless you have Myriad Arrows, which leaves her in exactly the same position of being the 4th best physical skill user above Yukiko and Teddie.

Naoto Must-Have skills:

Invigorate 3, Shield of Justice, Mind Charge, Bufudyne

Mind charge is there simply because physical Naoto is a joke. Her physical attacks are pathetic and the only skill worth mentioning is Myriad Arrows, but she doesn't even get Power Charge to augment the damage, on top of being a Rank 5 Bike Skill. Don't waste your time.

Bufudyne is there because Naoto is the true high damage ice user of the game. Her weapon from Shiroku Pub grants +25% ice damage. When paired with a decent ice accessory, it lets her deal a surprising amount of damage to bosses with Mind Charge. The only problem is that both her item slots are chewed up to increase her damage output, meaning she can't use her stat-boosting Algernon.


Recommended Skills:

Mahamaon/Hama Boost - Don't go both insta-deaths. Let MC's Die For Me! cover darkness.

Mamudoon/Mudo Boost. - Don't go both insta-deaths. Let MC's Samsara cover light.

Coverage -dyne spell - Round out your party's elemental coverage with whatever spell is unavailable.


"Recommended" Skills:

Megidolaon.- It actually isn't bad, but I have a personal bias against most almighty skills in the SMT series except Freikugel and Jihad.


Never use Tier:

Vorpal Blade. The ultimate useless phys skill. 25% hp, and Rampage deals more damage 66% of the time. Sure.

I'd have Naoto have to have Mind Charge and Megidolaon just to defeat Golden Hands.

from my experience from my first playtrough, mudo and hama boost on Naoto isnt necessary, i used her all the time, and 8 out of 10 times the insta kill spells worked

Thanks guys. What about for the other party members?

Chie and Kanji should go mostly for the Physical skills I assume, while Teddie goes for the buffs and Yosuke should be mixed?

This is my setup for my party. I built them for boss fights, which is why everyone has their break skills, for the new hidden boss. No real issues anywhere. My preferred party is Yosuke/Kanji/ Yukiko or Teddie.

And I have every character with God's Robe and the +5 all stats accessory, because it's solid, and I'm lazy.

Once you get X Amp, X Boost is waste of a slot considering you can equip X +40% accessories.
