What weapon you want P5 MC use instead of a cliche sword?

How about a shotgun? This game takes place in modern times, so it isn't too absurd. Only problem is gun laws in Japan are pretty strict. Still, makes about as much sense as smuggling a greatsword through a grocery store.

. Having a Persona MC who uses his hands would get me excited.

You want the bad Valentine's event.

Why not guns, ala Resonance of Fate style?

Scythe

THIS. I would love to see an MC with this. In fact it would have been fitting for P3's MC, all things considered.

Moving away from cliche swords to other cliche weapons.

Sounds legit.

A bareknuckle fisticuffs user as the MC would be pretty awesome. Or maybe someone who uses random junk like 2x4s, bundles of rebar, or hunks of concrete. Maybe someone who throws knives? I have to admit that I really miss the ability to use any weapon that you had in P3 and FES.

If P5 is set in high school again, how about having MC wield a hardcover textbook or even a laptop for bludgeoning?

It'll probably end up being delegated to another PC (likely a magic-user) though...

Set it in the fresh-out-of-college workforce and have the MC whip their past due bills at the shadows.
