What weapon you want P5 MC use instead of a cliche sword?

Also, what's wrong with using weapons? The TV world probably increases your skill with them, after all.


Well that, to a degree.

The idea of having to come up with a dumb rationale for why they would be using weapons, why they're good with them, how they got them into the TV world... just don't use them. Use Personae.

It'd probably consistently make more sense narratively and is relatively unique as well.

Scythes are horrendously terrible weapons in real life--due to the blade curving inward, they tend to miss A LOT. The only real way to ensure hitting with a Scythe is to widely swing in so that it slices on the inside when you bring it back in. However, actually doing this is terrible for your balance. Bottom line, Sycthes look cool but are awful weapons in reality. They were built for farming, not fighting.

Being summon exclusive would be cool with me. Not all RPG main characters have to be bland bishonen boys with oversized swords. :/

The one good thing Persona 1 had that held over from SMT were the use of traditional JRPG weaponry along with firearms to the ridiculous degree that Maki uses a BOW AND ARROW along side a PISTOL along with their personae giving them the greatest arsenal of a party made up entirely of humans.

Assuming P5 involves the TV World in any way. At any rate, that's a cop out - "This TV World makes me more proficient in weapons I had no connection to before!" - and shouldn't become the standard for how weapons are introduced to the character.

I liked how in P3 the weapons actually applied to the character - sure, there were some stupid ones like Ken using a spear - in question. Yukari was in the Archery club, so she was an actual archer, Mitsuru was a trained fencer, Akihiko was boxing captain.

As for what I'd like to see used by P5 MC, naginatas are awesome, I'd love a return to the rapier in some form. Still, straight Persona use seems the most likely, and the direction I would like seeing Persona move.

Besides, limiting it to Personae only means you'd draw upon whatever insane weaponry they would be designed with.

Bishie boys with swords is the JRPG staple bro. The protagonists in P3 and P4 just fall into that category.
