Dannny ****-mothering Elfman, people.

He's done a lot of video game composing too.

And sorry TC, but I'm seeing this topic more as "Is it just me or do I just know the names of more Japanese composers than Western composers?"

I do admit though that the title of composer does seem to be a more heavily advertised thing over there. Like you'll often see it in trailers and stuff. So I do agree with you there.

Came in to say this man and all of his works, right there.
But I DO prefer Japanese composers to Western ones, Grant Kirkhope may be my favourite composer of all.

I find that western games just tend not to utilize music to its full advantage. Its more subtle and more ambient and i hardly even notice it most of the time.

Personally, I can't listen to video game music outside of the video games they're featured in. The music just isn't appealing enough to me.

Depends on the game, really. Your average "town theme" in an RPG probably isn't going to get listened to often outside of its respective game, but battle tracks often will. Hell, I can't stand most of the music in Persona 3 and this game, but there are people that say they listen to its music more than most other music.
