Fusing Personas

I was curious to know, if it's cheating. I'm new to the persona series and my friend lent me his Vita and his P4G so I was playing it.

I noticed I can fuse my starting Persona, Izanagi, with other personas to make a persona whose level is at least 55.

Is this cheating? Or can I do this? Will it make the game super easier or something?

Fusing Persona is actually required to play the game! For one, every Persona you fuse gets put into the Persona Compendium and I think there's a Trophy for getting it to 100% at some point. For another, fusing Persona lets you create Persona with certain skills which could turn out to be better than their original counterpart.

The game does limit your fusing abilities.
You cannot fuse a Persona that is higher than your protagonist's current level, so unless you are Level 55 or higher, you cannot fuse Izanagi into that Persona you saw.

TL;DR
You can't fuse a persona that's higher than your MC's level.

I doubt my post was so long that it required a tl;dr note on it.
Plus, only the last part was about the Persona and Protagonist level.

And first one was totally unneeded.

Well, I think it was useful info for a beginner. I blame Twitter that some people can't handle text over 2 sentence. I'm guessing you don't read many books.
